For the past year, there’s been a lot of talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 potentially getting a special upgrade for the PlayStation 5. But what if the first game in the series is the one that gets it instead?
A new age rating from the ESRB board suggests so.
The original Red Dead Redemption is now rated for modern consoles – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Games typically receive age ratings close to their release date, so this rating suggests Rockstar might actually be developing a new game.
So, the first Red Dead Redemption originally came out on PS3 way back in 2010. When it finally hit PS4, it was pretty much the same game, just with a few little tweaks under the hood. Thankfully, they later pushed out an update that got it running super smooth at 60 frames per second on PS5, which was a huge improvement!
Rockstar likely sees releasing the game as a way to prepare for the Switch 2, but they’d probably also welcome the chance to improve the graphics and performance on the PlayStation 5. Rumors suggest they might even release a bundle with both Red Dead Redemption games available on PS5.
