If you were hoping for an upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption on newer consoles like the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2, there’s still a chance for a sequel. Last year, a reliable source named NateTheHate suggested that an improved version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is still in development, even though there hasn’t been an official announcement.
So, this guy tweeted that he still believes Red Dead Redemption 2 will come out this year. When people asked if this was the same rumor as last year, he basically said yeah, it is, and he doesn’t have any reason to think it won’t happen this year. It’s still just a rumor, but he’s sticking to his guns!
Like he said, release dates are always tricky, and Rockstar really does things their own way. They’ve already pushed back the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 a bunch of times, but it looks like it’s finally happening this year, with marketing starting this summer. Honestly, I’m curious to see how that impacts plans for an Red Dead Redemption 2: Enhanced Edition – we’ll just have to wait and see!
If the game is going to be released, most likely it will be sometime this summer, or perhaps as late as September, to avoid clashing with the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. We’ll have to wait and see, so keep an eye out for further news.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is often hailed as one of the best video games of all time. As of December 31, 2025, over 82 million copies had been sold across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
As far as I know, RDR2 is this year.

Same info as last year. I don’t have any update to suggest it won’t be this year.
