Rockstar Games revealed on November 13th that a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and mobile devices on December 2, 2025.
The Red Dead Redemption Remaster is now available for purchase and download on the Xbox Store and other digital stores.
Okay, so here’s the cool part: if you already have the original digital version of Red Dead Redemption on Xbox 360, you get the next-gen upgrade completely free! You don’t need to repurchase the game – it’s a straight upgrade, which is awesome.
Red Dead Redemption is an action-adventure game with a vast, open world. It first came out in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
I’m really into this game where you play as John Marston, an old outlaw. The government’s got his family hostage, and the only way he gets to see them again is if he tracks down all his old gang members. It’s a tough situation, and you’re right there with him trying to make things right.
Red Dead Redemption is widely praised by both critics and players as one of Rockstar Games’ best games. It’s known for its expansive and detailed open world, realistic gunfights, and a captivating story set in the final years of the Wild West. The game explores powerful themes like revenge, the pursuit of the American Dream, and finding redemption.
The game was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous Game of the Year awards and selling over 25 million copies. It was followed by a sequel, Red Dead Redemption II, which launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. We gave the Xbox version a perfect 5 out of 5 stars, and the PC version a 4 out of 5.
The updated version of Red Dead Redemption will feature the complete original game, including all previously released downloadable content, and visual improvements like 4K resolution, HDR, sharper images, and smoother gameplay at 60 frames per second.
Players who already own the original game will be able to continue their progress in the remastered version – they won’t have to begin a new game.
You can now buy and download digital versions of Red Dead Redemption and its sequel on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam.
