Fans of the Resident Evil series believe they’ve solved a major mystery from the new game, Resident Evil Requiem. The biggest question mark since the game’s release in February was a wedding ring worn by the character Leon Kennedy. This confirmed he’d gotten married sometime after Resident Evil 6. While Requiem didn’t reveal who he married, fans now think they’ve found the answer by looking back at an earlier game in the series.
A new fan theory, shared on social media by @nigkira, proposes that Leon S. Kennedy from the Resident Evil series married Ashley Graham. Ashley is a key character in Resident Evil 4 who Leon rescues during the game’s story. While she hasn’t appeared in recent Resident Evil games, some believe Leon and Ashley may have continued a relationship outside of the game’s events.
Fans believe Leon and Ashley ended up marrying each other because of a hidden image found in the remake of Resident Evil 4. The image showed an older Ashley, appearing to be in her 40s. Capcom removed this picture from the final game, leaving fans to speculate why it was included in the game files in the first place. It seems Capcom initially considered showing that Leon and Ashley had married, but ultimately decided to keep their relationship a mystery and removed the evidence from the remake.
This Resident Evil Mystery Should Be Fully Explained One Day

Okay, so everyone’s been wondering if Ashley and Leon ended up together, and honestly, Capcom needs to give us some answers! I heard Resident Evil Requiem is getting DLC, and if it focuses on Leon again – which I’m hoping for – maybe we’ll finally get some closure about his life outside of fighting monsters. It’s a mystery that’s been bugging me for ages!
Beyond this downloadable content, the Resident Evil series will definitely continue, likely with a Resident Evil 10. Considering the series often switches its focus to new characters, Leon Kennedy might not be in RE10. However, if he is, Capcom could finally reveal who he married, resolving long-standing fan speculation.
