
In approximately two days, a Resident Evil game will cease to exist permanently. Sadly, this means no more purchasing or playing the game for fans of Resident Evil. The game in question was taken off sale on March 4, meaning it could no longer be bought through Steam, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store. Despite this, those who already owned it were able to continue playing. However, as of June 30, this will no longer be possible. After that date, the game will disappear forever.
The game we’re referring to as Resident Evil Re:Verse is set to close on June 30th at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time. We announced the shutdown date back in February, and now that day has arrived.
It’s unclear why the game is being closed, as Capcom hasn’t explicitly stated so, but it seems that the game didn’t perform as well as they had hoped, even though their official statement about the closure implies otherwise.
Verse, which was created to honor the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. Now that a new chapter in the series has begun, they feel that the game has accomplished its initial purpose with distinction. However, they regret to inform you that it will be shutting down due to this disappointing news. They are deeply appreciative of your unwavering support for Resident Evil Re:Verse.
For those unaware, Resident Evil Re:Verse is an unexpected multiplayer addition to the traditionally single-player, story-driven Resident Evil series. Unfortunately, when launched in 2022, the game failed to gain traction. Few people played it, and among those who did, many expressed displeasure. This is reflected in its Metacritic user score of 1.9 out of 10. Given its high operational costs compared to its revenue and likely Capcom’s desire to move on from the project, it has been decided to shut it down and perhaps one day erase it from memory.
