The new game, Resident Evil Requiem, came out today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s already proving to be very popular. It hit a peak of over 310,000 players on Steam at one point, making it the biggest launch in the Resident Evil series on that platform.
The recent launch of Requiem on Steam is remarkably successful. It reached a peak of 168,191 concurrent players, surpassing even Resident Evil 4 Remake (which peaked at 168,191) and ranking third behind Resident Evil Village (106,631). Given that Resident Evil 4 Remake was a remake of a classic and Resident Evil Village was the most recent major installment in that series, Requiem’s performance is a huge achievement. As for all games published by this company on Steam, Requiem currently ranks fifth, trailing only Monster Hunter World, and this is before the full weekend player count is tallied.
The game was clearly poised for success. Capcom announced over a million wishlists on Steam just weeks after revealing the title in June 2025. Interest surged even further in December when Leon S. Kennedy was confirmed as a playable character. By February 10th, Alinea Analytics reported over 2.5 million wishlists, making it the third most-wishlisted game on Steam, following Subnautica 2 and Forza Horizon 6.
I just finished Resident Evil Requiem, and seriously, it’s amazing – we gave it a 9 out of 10 in our review, and it totally deserves it. If you’re playing on the PS5 Pro, you need to check out Sony’s new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution; it makes the game look even sharper. You can find more info about that here.
