Since its release on February 27, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem has sold over six million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in the Resident Evil series to reach this achievement.
The game sold five million copies in its first week, both in stores and online, making it the fastest-selling title in the Resident Evil series. Capcom announced this success and hinted at upcoming events to mark the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil.
The publisher is preparing several exciting events to celebrate the anniversary on March 22, 2026, including a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem, as well as orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe. More details are expected to be announced later this week.
Now that the main Resident Evil Requiem game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Capcom plans to keep supporting it with free updates and a paid story expansion. Players can look forward to a Photo Mode and a new game mode arriving in May, along with a larger expansion that will explore the game’s story and world in more detail.
The game is both a commercial and critical success, achieving an impressive Metacritic score of 89 on PS5 based on 128 reviews.
