RHOC’s Tamra Judge Details Backlash After Autism Spectrum Comment

Tamra Judge is setting the record straight.

Approximately nine months following the revelation by “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star that she was diagnosed with autism, Tamra subsequently explained her previous remarks concerning autism.

In the debut episode of Season 19 of the Bravo series, a 57-year-old woman had a deeply emotional conversation with her therapist regarding the old wounds she is still addressing and overcoming from her past.

Tamra expressed in a private moment that we often unearth hidden emotions when we’re angry, and for her, those deeply buried feelings are the custody battle with her ex, her child leaving her, and her father abandoning them. These experiences have been difficult for her, and she never intended to face such hardships.

After stepping into the session with tears, Tamra confessed to the therapist, “My sensory awareness is particularly intense at the moment, and my unwanted thoughts are overwhelming.

According to the therapist, we discussed unresolved traumatic experiences and whether or not autism spectrum might be involved, as some symptoms can resemble it. With so many factors at play, it’s challenging to reach a conclusion without a thorough evaluation.

Tamra attributed a significant role in her recent bout with depression to the October 2024 episode of her and Teddi Mellencamp’s podcast, “Two Ts In A Pod.” During this episode, she publicly shared that she had been diagnosed on the autism spectrum, an event which may have contributed to her feelings of depression.

However, after facing criticism on social media about her early disclosure, Tamra realized that she had spoken too soon when discussing the potential autism diagnosis.

After you brought that up, I found myself at home, listening to my podcast, and unfortunately, I made a mistake in what I said,” the reality star admitted. “I realize now I shouldn’t have spoken about it. I took quite a public beating recently and my past year has been pretty tough.

And the hate Tamra received seriously affected her mental state.

She said, “That really hurt me,” speaking candidly. “Often, folks assume I lack emotions, but let me clarify, that’s not the case. I’ve had enough of being labeled a terrible person merely because I am not.

In the future, Tamra aspires to manage her reactions better, aiming to avoid coming off as overly reactive, impulsive, volatile, and blunt in her words, especially when her Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars stir up drama that triggers her.

She openly acknowledged that she tries her best not to react angrily when upset, even if someone has wronged her, as she desires to resolve the issues instead.
