Joe Wilkinson and David Earl are hosting a three-part series called ‘Magical Sitcom Tour’ for U&Gold, and they’ll be joined by special guest Ricky Gervais, a well-known name in comedy.
This show is a blend of travel adventures, funny moments between friends, and nostalgic memories. It follows Joe and David as they create unique, themed days out for one another, each inspired by a classic British sitcom.
The new series will feature episodes dedicated to classic British comedies like The Office, Porridge, and Fawlty Towers. Each episode will include visits to filming locations, recreations of famous scenes, and fascinating stories from those who worked on the shows.
Gervais will join the event to discuss the popular workplace comedy that launched his career. He’s worked with both Earl and Wilkinson before, having collaborated with them on his other comedies, *Derek* and *After Life*.
Earl also shared his excitement, saying he and Joe had been wanting to create this series for a long time and were thankful to UKTV for the opportunity.

Besides working with Ricky Gervais, I’ve really enjoyed this comedy duo in their sitcom, *The Cockfields*, and their hilarious podcast, *You Don’t Know What You’re Doing*. And you might recognize one half of the pair, Wilkinson, from shows like *Taskmaster*, *LOL: Last One Laughing*, and even *The Celebrity Traitors* – he’s a really versatile performer!
Mark Iddon, a senior commissioning editor at UKTV, explained that Joe Wilkinson and David Earl perfectly represent the U&Gold audience. He said they share the same deep love and appreciation for classic sitcoms as the channel’s viewers.
What really sets this show apart is how genuine it feels. It’s like getting to watch two comedy fans share their passion for classic shows with all of us. Their chemistry is fantastic, and because they’re so enthusiastic, viewers will quickly connect with them.
