Rockstar Faces A Fresh Setback In Its Union-Busting Case

A UK employment tribunal has allowed the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain to proceed with its claims that Rockstar Games engaged in employee blacklisting. The case, which began last November, represents a significant victory for the union, according to WCC Tech.

You might have missed the news that Rockstar Games was accused of firing 34 employees because they were thought to be trying to start a union. This isn’t the first time the company has faced criticism – they’ve been previously accused of delaying legal cases, and earlier this year, a union called IWGB wasn’t successful in getting temporary pay for workers who had already lost their jobs.

This has been a difficult and turbulent situation for everyone involved, but the IWGB union welcomes the recent decision. They believe it will expose potentially unfair practices at Rockstar Games. The trial is scheduled to begin on September 10, 2026, and last until October 15th. While it’s not expected to delay the release of GTA 6, it will be a closely watched period for the studio and especially by former employees who feel they were treated unfairly.

We’re remaining neutral until we have clear evidence, and we’re hopeful for a solution that works for everyone involved.
