However, even after releasing “Alan Wake 2” in 2023, which sold close to 2 million copies, Remedy Entertainment struggled to turn a profit for more than a year following its release. In November, Remedy PR Director Thomas Puha expressed his discontent towards X regarding the lack of profitability, stating that it was due to an excess budget and challenges in the gaming industry.

According to Puha’s statement, “The sales of Alan Wake 2 have surpassed 1.8 million units, which is roughly in line with our initial expectations. Despite the higher-than-expected budget (a common occurrence in gaming), we haven’t turned a profit yet and are not entirely satisfied with this situation. Considering the challenging market conditions and fierce competition, we’ve achieved impressive sales figures and have not significantly reduced prices as of yet.

According to their mid-year 2025 report, Remedy saw a significant jump in revenue, amounting to a 43.4% rise from the start of the year up until June. However, it’s worth noting that the company’s operating profit, relative to its total revenue, dropped by 8.4% during this period.
