Anna Marie, better known as Rogue, is a powerhouse member of the X-Men. She began as a villain with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants but eventually joined the X-Men when she needed help. Now married to Gambit, she currently leads the team in Louisiana. Rogue’s character has undergone a significant evolution, particularly her experiences sharing a mind with Carol Danvers and learning to control her powers while still desiring physical contact. This has made her one of the most complex and respected leaders within the X-Men, and naturally, she’s also known for having some of their most iconic costumes.
As a huge movie fan, I’ve always found Rogue’s look fascinating. Unlike most female superheroes, she’s almost always covered up from the neck down. It’s not just about the costume, though – it really speaks to her character, this desire to protect others by hiding herself. There have been a couple of times we’ve seen more skin, but she consistently sticks to a very specific color scheme. Seriously, green is her color, and it makes her instantly recognizable as one of the most visually striking members of the X-Men.
7) First Appearance

First on our list is Rogue’s original costume from her time with the Brotherhood of Mutants. Though quite different from her current look, it still features all the recognizable elements, including her signature colors and white streaks in her hair – with a unique spin. While the style is noticeably older and definitely gives off a villainous vibe, it’s still a striking outfit. This remained her primary costume even after she joined the X-Men; her hair and the amount of white trim were slightly adjusted, but it was a great evolution of the classic design.
6) Savage Land

Looking back, the worst costume she ever wore had to be the one from the Savage Land. It was basically patched together from an older outfit, but somehow she still pulled it off! This was a really unique time for her, because she’d temporarily lost her powers after going through the Siege Perilous, and for the first time, she was just… herself.
The appearance wasn’t the most important part; it was the effect this had on her characters. Allowing them to experience humanity, even briefly, was incredibly significant. It helped her learn to control her abilities, which ultimately led to where we are now – a point where she and Gambit can kiss without him getting injured.
5) X-Men Legacy

Rogue’s costume from X-Men Legacy was fairly revealing, though not as much as her Savage Land outfit. It was a modern take on her original look, swapping the yellow for white. The short sleeves and long gloves emphasized her readiness for battle, while the addition of a scarf hinted at a softer, more compassionate side for those she aided. The olive green color was an unusual but effective choice, helping the costume stand out.
4) Red Jumpsuit

During the X-Treme X-Men comics, Rogue sported a striking red jumpsuit. It was her most dramatically different appearance yet, and while some fans debated it, it had a certain appeal. The outfit showed she was willing to take risks and offered a fresh take on her character. Despite being a somewhat controversial look, Rogue pulled it off and proved she could break from tradition.
Switching to a black leather jacket was a refreshing look for her, a change from her usual style. She also avoided wearing too much green, which was good, or her outfit might have seemed overly festive.
3) Messiah Complex

The Messiah Complex costume was a fantastic update to her original look, and it’s arguably even better. Of her two costumes in X-Men Legacy, this one feels more visually striking. The addition of a cape and a darker green were strong choices, but swapping yellow for white really made the outfit stand out. It was also a welcome change to see her hair down.
The outfit subtly references Magneto, suggesting this character isn’t afraid to take charge. It signals she won’t simply be a team player, but a strong leader who prioritizes her own convictions when needed.
2) Outback Era

As a huge Rogue fan, I always felt her Outback Era look was seriously underrated. It wasn’t flashy – just black tights, green boots and gloves, and a simple corset. But honestly, it really defined that period for her. It was a time when she was at her most interesting, surrounded by a team of misfits who truly felt like family. Everyone was at the peak of their powers, and it just clicked – they were a unit, and that look really captured that vibe.
Although the yellow color scheme isn’t present now, Rogue’s costume was incredibly memorable and perfectly captured her character. It showed her desire to belong while also grappling with self-doubt. While many characters had great designs, Rogue’s was particularly exceptional and stood out from the rest.
1) Jim Lee Redesign

The combination of yellow and green, paired with a tan leather jacket over her suit, creates a truly perfect look. Add her signature yellow gloves and her hair styled just right, and you’ve got the instantly recognizable Rogue. While inspired by her animated X-Men costume, the outfit was incredibly well-suited for the show and became her most frequently worn style.
These designs are iconic for a reason – they define this era of comics. It’s impossible to think of the cover of X-Men #24 without picturing Rogue and Gambit in their classic outfits, and it’s a look fans love. Rogue made a huge impact when she debuted, and her final costume was equally memorable.
