Russell T Davies’s acclaimed new LGBTQ+ drama Tip Toe is heading to Starz in the US and Canada.
This thriller, which first aired on Channel 4 in the UK in May, features Alan Cumming and David Morrissey as feuding neighbors. It tackles the growing problem of prejudice against LGBTQ+ people in modern society.
Cumming portrays Leo, who runs a bar, and Morrissey plays Clive, an electrician. Initially friendly neighbors, they become bitter enemies as their disagreements escalate and their views become increasingly extreme.
The show received very positive reviews after it first aired, with TopMob describing it as a compelling drama that captures the current mood of the country.
It will air on Starz later this year.
Alison Hoffman, President of STARZ Networks, praised Russell T Davies’ new series as captivating and emotionally resonant, noting it reflects the challenges and worries of today’s world.
She explained that the show embodies the bold and innovative storytelling Starz is committed to supporting.

Davies expressed his excitement about returning to Starz after a long time. He noted the successful launch of ‘Tip Toe’ in the U.K. demonstrated a clear demand for compelling and thought-provoking content, which he believes aligns perfectly with Starz’s brand.
Davies previously revealed his dream US star for a stateside version of the drama.
He told Deadline that he chose his lead actor, in part because someone like Matt Bomer had expressed interest in collaborating with him.
He added that he’d happily sell his ‘American Tip Toe’ idea for just 10 pence if someone else wanted it. He believes this kind of extremism is a global issue, affecting many different minority groups and becoming increasingly common.

I’ve always been impressed by Matt Bomer’s work, especially how often he takes on LGBTQ+ roles. I recently watched him in ‘Fellow Travelers,’ a really moving story about love during the McCarthy era, and it reminded me of his other great performances – like playing Donald in ‘The Boys’ movie and Larry Trainor, the gay superhero, in ‘Doom Patrol.’ He consistently brings depth and authenticity to these characters.
In addition to Morrissey and Cumming, “Tip Toe” features Pooky Quesnel (known for “Moonflower Murders”) as Marie, Clive’s wife, with Jackson Connor (“Masters of the Air”) and Joseph Evans (“The Map That Leads To You”) playing their sons, George and Saul.
I’m so excited to see the supporting cast! It includes Elizabeth Berrington, who I loved in ‘Frauds,’ Iz Hesketh from ‘Renegade Nell,’ and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, who was fantastic in ‘Wednesday.’ Paul Rhys, known for his work in ‘Saltburn,’ is also joining, along with Charlie Condou from ‘Doctor Who,’ Denise Welch of ‘Waterloo Road,’ and the incredibly talented theatre actor Shakeel Kimotho. It’s a really strong group!
Tip Toe is available to watch now on Channel 4 in the UK.
