Ryan Reynolds Finally Addresses Rumors About Deadpool Being In Avengers: Doomsday, Clears Up That Cryptic Social Media Post

For next year’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” several actors have been officially confirmed. Many of these were announced during a lengthy livestream, but there are also some actors rumored to be in the movie who haven’t been confirmed yet. Ryan Reynolds is one such actor, and he has recently spoken out about the speculations surrounding Deadpool in “Doomsday” and clarified his previous social media post, which many took as a hint of his participation.

What Ryan Reynolds Said About Deadpool’s Rumored Appearance

News surfaced last month that Deadpool might make an appearance in “Avengers: Doomsday,” yet he won’t be part of Earth’s strongest team. During a conversation with EW at the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere of the documentary “John Candy: I Like Me,” which he produced, the actor portraying Wade Wilson was asked if “Doomsday” would incorporate Deadpool-series trademark Easter eggs related to John Candy. Here’s his humorous response concerning this possibility, as well as whether he can verify his involvement in the upcoming fifth “Avengers” movie.

Here are four scripts that I’ve drafted at home while wearing my pajamas, and none of them have been reviewed or filmed yet. I can’t disclose any further details about them at this time.

You know, it’s not necessarily that John Candy is definitely avoiding talking about his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. Given how Marvel Studios are protective of spoilers, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t give a clear answer. After all, they were comfortable revealing the cast members like Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, and Letitia Wright in March, but some surprises still need to stay under wraps. So while Ryan Reynolds might be hinting at more John Candy easter eggs, it’s premature to conclude he hasn’t been on the set. But then again, Deadpool could very well make an appearance yet.

Why Ryan Reynolds Posted The Avengers Logo

Some of you reading this may now remember when Ryan Reynolds posted last month on Instagram the Avengers logo with a red ‘A’ over it. In a separate interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, the man who starred in the frequently-criticized (mostly from him) Green Lantern clarified that he wasn’t teasing anything Avengers: Doomsday-related, but rather sharing an unused flag design from Deadpool & Wolverine. As he explained:

The social media post I made showcased a design similar to the flag used in Deadpool and Wolverine comic books. This was my preferred choice. Strangely enough, I later saw a movie with multiple variations of that design, and I couldn’t help but wonder, “Why didn’t I pick that one? There were five other hilarious alternatives for that particular design.” Such is life, and in this case, it was just a flag. Upon rediscovering it, I felt a strong connection to the red and black color scheme. Naturally, discussions about future developments in that universe are ongoing. Rest assured, you’ll be the first to know, Steve. You always are.

This version tries to maintain the original’s conversational tone while making it slightly clearer and more engaging for a wider audience.

More Avengers: Doomsday Coverage

Could we rephrase that into something like this: Is it really necessary for Marvel to keep denying Benedict Cumberbatch’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday when he continues to hint at his part in the film? After all, he just can’t help but confirm his presence in it!

Channing Tatum Discloses His Strategy for Portraying Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, Alleviating a Worry About Deadpool and Wolverine Connections I Previously Held

Or more concisely:

Channing Tatum Shares Gambit’s Approach in Avengers: Doomsday, Easing Deadpool-Wolverine Link Worries.

In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the main characters were sent into The Void, resulting in a diverse array of characters and references from previous Marvel films fitting effortlessly into the storyline. Many of these connections were linked to the original X-Men film series, but the last version of the Avengers flag served as an additional bridge to the primary Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, it was revealed in “Deadpool & Wolverine” that following “Deadpool 2,” Wade attempted to join a superhero team on Earth-616, only to be rejected by Happy Hogan.

As a fan eagerly anticipating it, I’m looking forward to “Avengers: Doomsday” hitting theaters on December 18, 2026. Fingers crossed that Ryan Reynolds is officially part of the cast, given my excitement to witness Deadpool poking fun at Captain America and the Fantastic Four, not to mention uncovering the mystery surrounding his relationship with Thor. Here’s hoping for a confirmation rather than a disappointment!
