Genndy Tartakovsky has solidified his status as a legend in the realm of animation, thanks to masterpieces like Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. Now, he’s working with his team on the long-awaited third season of Adult Swim’s Primal. Before we welcome back the series that introduced us to Spear and Fang, animation fans should brace themselves for Tartakovsky’s upcoming, untamed journey on Netflix. A new project from this animator, titled “Fixed,” is slated to premiere on the streaming service later this summer, with a mature-rated trailer already released.
Directed by visionary Genndy Tartakovsky, ‘Fixed‘ is an adult animated comedy about Bull, a typical, well-behaved canine who learns he’s scheduled to be neutered the next day. As the reality of this life-changing event sinks in, Bull decides that he wants one last wild adventure with his pack of friends before saying goodbye to his manhood! But what could possibly go wrong?
Fixed Is Saved
Genndy Tartakovsky’s mature-rated animated film was unexpectedly rescued by Netflix in April this year, marking a rapid transition for the inclusion of “Fixed” within their collection. In conjunction with the acquisition announcement, Genndy clarified his understanding as to Warner Bros.’ initial reluctance to handle the project: “The movie is quite unique – it’s 2D, rated R, and entirely original, qualities that are less appealing in today’s industry.
Regardless of the challenges faced during the production of “Fixed”, Tartakovsky was ultimately elated about how things turned out. He expressed his feelings by saying, “I believe it’s a wonderful chance and they’re leading in terms of content and viewers. It’s amazing for this small film to appear on such a grand stage. I think it could become a conversation starter. And I hope it will expand the possibility to create more diverse and adult-oriented animated films. I have many ambitious goals, dreams, and aspirations for its success, but I’m simply happy it’s being released.
Absolutely, followers of Tartakovsky are aware that Fixed isn’t the last project Genndy and his team are developing. The third season of Adult Swim’s Primal, scheduled for release in early 2026 (though an exact date remains undisclosed), is still underway. With Spear meeting his end in the final episode of the previous season, the mastermind behind this brutal series is planning to delve into a more anthology-style narrative for Primal, sparking curiosity among fans about which stories will be unraveled.
