Sara Bareilles had to be extra brave for this one.
The singer, known for her song “Love Song,” was surprised and disturbed to discover a skull and animal bones while cleaning the chimney of her rural home.
I was completely hooked from the start of Sara’s TikTok. She described how she lives in the country and, being naturally curious, she opened a door that had always been shut. She said when she did, things started falling out, and she thought she should investigate. Then she saw it – a skull! And not just any skull, but one filled with maggots! It was seriously creepy, and that’s when her ordeal began.
She kept singing, exclaiming, “I have no idea what that is, it looks like a huge dragon!” Then, clearly shocked, she repeated, “What the heck, what the heck?”
The 46-year-old woman decided to remove the remains of what she believed was a raccoon from inside her chimney. She explained that despite owning the house for years, she hadn’t been able to open the chimney door until she discovered a mess on the floor beneath it.
When Sara opened the door, she saw a mess inside – soot and the remains of an animal. She put on gloves, grabbed a shovel, and started carefully scooping everything into a brown paper bag.
“I’m really grossed out,” she confessed. “There’s a better way to do this, I’m certain of it.”
The Grammy winner then gave followers her POV as she continued shoveling out the dead animal.
“It’s huge, like a turkey!” Sara shouted, horrified. “It’s… it’s like it’s being born in reverse, and there’s more than one… multiple things!”
Once the ordeal was complete she added, “That was traumatic.”
Even after experiencing something difficult, the composer of Waitress hoped to offer a small bit of good luck to the animals she released back into the wild.

She said, “Even though they’re definitely gone,” she planned to cleanse the area with sage and then take a shower.
Sara was surprised by the huge reaction to a post she made on social media. On March 18th, she wrote on Instagram that she’d never received so much engagement on anything she’d shared online – it was about removing dead cats from her chimney!
The singer of “Brave” also posted a cartoon a friend made of her cleaning out the fish, and included the same caption she used with the original video: “#OppositeOfTheOscars.”
