Saros release date, launch time and what to expect

Saros is the new game from Housemarque, and we’re here to give you all the details! We’ll cover the release date, when it launches, and what you can expect as you dive into this roguelike adventure.

Housemarque’s last game, Returnal, came out in April 2021 and was a standout title for the new PlayStation 5, earning four BAFTA awards – including Best Game and Best Performer for Jane Perry. With game development now taking so long, it’s impressive to see Housemarque release another game so quickly this generation – something we shouldn’t assume will happen often.

The game has received positive reviews and is easier to pick up for players unfamiliar with bullet hell games, unlike Returnal, which was known for being very challenging.

But, for all things Saros, read on!

When is the Saros release date?

Saros will be released on Thursday, April 30th. If you pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition, you can start playing on April 28th.

If you’re interested in checking out Saros, you can head to our pre-order section to find out where to buy it.

If you ordered a physical copy, you should receive it around April 30th, depending on your local delivery schedule.

When is the Saros launch time?

Saros launches midnight 12am in your local timezone.

Players in locations like New Zealand will get to try the game before most people, so if you’re eager to be among the first to play Saros, you might want to plan a trip there.

As a Saros fan, it’s kinda wild to think about how time zones affect when I can play! If I lived in American Samoa, I’d be waiting a full 24 hours after someone in New Zealand to even get a chance to jump in, since they’re way ahead of us on the clock. It just shows how big the world is and how much time differences can matter for a global game like this!

The more you know!

And if you think that’s a worthwhile deal, you can get it from the link below!

Which consoles and platforms can play Saros?

Saros is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and is currently only available on Sony’s current-gen console.

Returnal, Housemarque’s previous game, was eventually released on PC, but industry reports, including one from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, suggest Sony may be moving away from releasing games on PC.

This remains to be seen, but it could be that Saros remains on the PS5 and future Sony consoles.

In Saros, you’ll play as Arjun Devraj, a determined and powerful character brought to life by Rahul Kohli (known for his role in Midnight Mass). The game’s creators, Housemarque, describe Arjun as a relentless Soltari Enforcer on a crucial mission.

Devraj and his fellow colonists are venturing across Carcosa, a planet constantly reshaped by an endless solar eclipse.

Saros draws inspiration from Hindu mythology and cosmology, resulting in a unique visual style rarely found in video games.

The gameplay feels a lot like Housemarque’s previous game, Returnal, with fast-paced, intense bullet-hell combat. However, Saros is a bit more forgiving; you keep new abilities and weapons between runs, unlike Returnal where you always start from the beginning.
