SATC’s Jason Lewis Shares Life Update 3 Years After Going “Quiet”

The Absolut Hunk is back.

Jason Lewis, known for his role in Sex and the City, recently shared an update with fans about his life since leaving the public eye.

He explained in a recent Instagram video that he’d been silent for the past three years, not because he lacked thoughts or opinions, but because he was focused on working on something important.

Jason went on to say that the work he did was all-consuming, and he’d accepted that it took over his life.

The 54-year-old didn’t share details about his current project, but he described it as something that will connect with the right audience.

I’m still working on it, but I’ve made enough progress that I wanted to start sharing my work again.

Hinting at future revelations, he explained in the video’s description that he’d decided to speak out after remaining silent for three years.

Jason is probably most famous for playing Jerry “Smith” Jerrod, Samantha Jones’s boyfriend on Sex and the City. He also appeared as the same character in the show’s 2008 movie and its 2010 follow-up. Similar to Kim Cattrall, who only made a very short appearance in And Just Like That…, Jason wasn’t involved in the new series.

Although he last appeared in the film Palm Swings in 2020, he also competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2022. He and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, were unfortunately the first couple eliminated from the competition.

Jason began his career as a model, working with brands like Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, and Hugo Boss. Later, he shifted his focus in acting, choosing to only take on roles that truly excited him.

He told People magazine in 2017, as reported by Yahoo, that he stepped back from his work for a period because he was too focused on achieving success and it was making him unhappy.

Growing up, I practically lived in libraries! I truly believe stories are powerful because they remind us we’re not alone in our experiences. But beyond that, they open up a world of perspectives – it’s like having conversations and receiving advice from people and cultures all over the globe. It’s a fantastic way to gain wisdom and understanding.

Following a serious heart attack in 2019, the actor best known for The Mask of Zorro returned to his hometown of Málaga, Spain, to dedicate himself to performing on stage.

In March 2026, Antonio told The Times that the experience completely changed his perspective on life. Confronting his own mortality led him to recognize his core identity as a theater actor.

The Tony Award nominee, who still acts in TV and movies sometimes, now owns a theater and actively participates in local events.

He went on to say he’d never felt happier. Staying connected to his community—his roots, his neighbors, and the people he grew up with—meant everything to him. He hadn’t lost that bond over time; in fact, it had only grown stronger.

After 19 seasons, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 following accusations of a negative and harmful workplace. These claims led to an internal review, the dismissal of several executives, and widespread public criticism.

Ellen made a comeback with her last stand-up comedy show, For Your Approval, which premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Before the show aired, she announced that she was planning to retire from Hollywood.

During her recent stand-up tour, Ellen DeGeneres told the audience, according to SFGate, that she plans to retire after releasing a Netflix special. She stated, ‘This is the last time you’re going to see me.’

Ellen and Portia de Rossi now live in the Cotswolds. Ellen explained to Richard Bacon in July 2025, during a conversation at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham, that they decided to stay there permanently in November 2024 following Donald Trump’s reelection.

She raved about the English countryside, telling the BBC it was “absolutely beautiful” and unlike anything she was used to. She particularly loved the charming villages, towns, and architecture, noting it represented a more relaxed and simple way of life.

“It’s just a nicer place,” Ellen explained. “The animals are well cared for, and everyone is so friendly. We really love living here. We moved in November, which wasn’t the best timing, but I finally got to see snow! Portia brought her horses with her, I have chickens, and we even had sheep for a couple of weeks.”

Okay, so I’ve been following Tyra Banks FOREVER, and I finally understand why she moved to Australia! It’s all about her ice cream, SMiZE and Dream! She was on Today with Jenna & Friends and spilled everything. Apparently, she’s been quietly building this amazing ice cream business, mostly supplying places like airplanes and cruises. But a huge production facility for her recipes was in Australia, and she just fell in love with the country every time she visited! She said Australia, along with America and New Zealand, are the biggest ice cream-eating countries in the world – genius, right?! So she packed up and moved her whole life – her son York (whose dad is Erik Asla) and her boyfriend Louis Bélanger-Martin – there! She literally said Australia has been a dream come true for her and her family, and honestly, I’m obsessed with this whole story. It’s not just a move, it’s a business and a lifestyle! I need to try this ice cream ASAP!

Eva Longoria, best known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has moved from Los Angeles and now splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. She explained to Marie Claire that while she lived in Los Angeles for most of her adult life, the city had changed, and the pandemic accelerated her decision to leave. She cited issues like homelessness and taxes as contributing factors, though she doesn’t want to criticize California.

Longoria clarified that her move wasn’t directly related to politics or the election of President Trump. She told The View: Behind the Table podcast that her work, including filming Land of Women in Spain and Searching for Mexico, led her to spend extended periods in those countries, and she’s now been living there for years. She feels fortunate to be able to leave the U.S. when many Americans can’t, and expresses concern for those who are staying. Despite the move, Longoria remains busy with acting projects, including appearances in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

Actor Richard Gere has relocated from Chicago to Spain with his family. He explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2024 that his wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Galicia, encouraged the move, and they plan to live in Madrid for several years.

Gere is enthusiastic about the opportunities this move will provide for their young sons, Alexander and James, who are already bilingual and will thrive in the new environment. He also has an adult son, Homer, with his ex-wife, Carey Lowell.

The entire family seems to be adjusting well. In a January 2025 interview with Elle España, Gere shared that they are “happier than ever” and are currently enjoying a positive period in their lives.

Singer Christina Milian and her family have officially made Paris their home. Married to French singer Matt Pokora for over seven years, the couple previously spent half the year commuting between the U.S. and France. They decided to fully relocate so their children – Violet (from a previous marriage), and sons Isaiah and Kenna – could attend school in France. Milian feels it’s a wonderful opportunity for them to learn the language and experience a new culture. She shared with TopMob that her kids are thriving, she enjoys an active lifestyle, and she’s able to balance work with family life by working ahead of schedule. She describes their life in Paris as happy and healthy.

Lindsay Lohan is frustrated by ongoing speculation about her decision to leave Los Angeles and decided to clarify things while reflecting on her busy career and social life in the early 2000s. In a March 2024 interview with Bustle, she explained that she felt her work was often overshadowed by the constant attention of the paparazzi, which she found frustrating. She wished the focus had remained on her career and felt the media attention spiraled out of control, prompting her desire to step away from the spotlight. This was a key reason she chose to move abroad, first to London and then to Dubai, where she also began opening beach clubs in Greece. She wanted to ensure the focus was on her work, not fabricated stories.

Lindsay Lohan admitted she worried she might never find love, wondering if that chapter of her life would ever begin. She realized she needed to focus on herself before things could change, and eventually, opportunities she truly wanted started to appear.

She did eventually find love with Bader Shammas, marrying him in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.

Though they currently live in Dubai, Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind. She’s continued to star in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

Josh decided to leave Hollywood after some careful thought. He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location, but a way of life. He wanted to avoid being surrounded by people constantly focused on the film industry, fearing it would limit his perspective. He desired a life filled with diverse experiences and personal growth, calling that ‘the spice of life.’

So, Josh, along with his wife Tamsin Egerton and their four children, moved to the countryside of Hampshire, England. He told The Guardian in July 2024 that while life with four kids is busy, it also simplifies things, allowing more time for what truly matters. Despite the move, Josh has continued to act, appearing in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.

Many fans may not realize Jesse no longer lives in Los Angeles. In a February 2025 interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, the A Real Pain star revealed he’s lived in Indiana for the past ten years, finding it a more comfortable environment. He explained he prefers to avoid the instability of the entertainment industry.

Despite being an Oscar nominee, Jesse lives a relatively normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and their son, Banner. He avoids social media and doesn’t spend much time networking with industry professionals. He shared that his family life—with a teacher wife and a son who isn’t particularly interested in movies—helps keep him grounded and separate from the constant pressures of Hollywood.

Okay, so you know I’ve been following Eliza Dushku forever – Buffy was everything, and Bring It On? Iconic! But seriously, I just found out in September 2024 that she’s become a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist! Can you believe it? She’s actually studying to be a mental health professional now! It’s amazing, and honestly, it makes me admire her even more. She’s always been so talented, but this is just… incredible.

She explained to Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to prioritize her own well-being, with the goal of then being able to help others. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced – the peace and renewed energy she’d found – because she now clearly understood her true calling and purpose.

The actress best known for playing a character on The Flintstones shared that she moved to Ireland with her son, Clay, in January 2025. She’s currently working on becoming an Irish citizen because of her family history – her grandparents were from Ireland. While she mentioned recent political events as a factor in her decision to move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country someday.

Honestly, it’s been really tough being away from my other children and my friends. I keep thinking about all the things I loved about life back home, and I’m working hard to build a new life here. We’re loving this beautiful country, but we’re definitely waiting for things to change in America – when everyone there has the same rights and it’s truly safe, then we’ll start thinking about returning.

Actress Evangeline Lilly, known for her role in Ant-Man and the Wasp, has announced she’s stepping away from acting for an unspecified period of time after two decades in the film industry.

In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and at peace she feels while pursuing her dreams. She expressed gratitude for her life and explained that choosing a path based on personal purpose – even if it means sacrificing conventional success like wealth and fame – is ultimately more rewarding and fulfilling than staying with what’s expected.

However, she’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood completely, saying, “I might go back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

Since starring in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars, the actor best known for The Vampire Diaries has been focusing on a personal mission: fighting climate change by working to improve soil health around the world.

Ian Somerhalder took a break from acting over four years ago to focus on raising his two children with his wife, Nikki Reed, and to develop his businesses. He also worked to release two documentaries, Kiss the Ground (2020) and Common Ground, which both highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shared this information with TopMob News in November 2023.

Looking ahead, the actor said he envisions himself as a rancher, focused on building lasting brands – like his bourbon and wellness company. He’s deeply committed to sustainable farming and healthy soil, values he and his family practice. He explained this is his long-term vision, and it’s the reason he’s so passionate about these things – it’s simply who he is and what he’s working towards.

In a February 2021 episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy revealed to guest Anna Faris that she had stopped acting a few years prior. She’s now pursuing writing and directing opportunities, alongside hosting the podcast.

Jennette shared that she regrets many of the acting roles she took in the past, detailing these feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She explained that she feels dissatisfied with her career and found the roles she played to be cheesy and embarrassing. Having worked on those shows from ages 13 to 21, she was already feeling self-conscious by age 15, noting that her peers weren’t impressed by her television work.

Despite past difficulties, she hasn’t ruled out returning to acting. She explained to TopMob News in October 2022 that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from previous negative experiences. She believes the only way she might consider it again would be if she wrote a role specifically for herself.

It seemed like a clear choice. The chance to marry Prince Harry, devote ourselves to meaningful charitable work, and even wear the Queen’s tiaras would easily make leaving Hollywood worthwhile.

Similar to Grace Kelly’s transition from Hollywood to Monaco, Meghan Markle left her life and acting career in Toronto, including her role on the show Suits, to join the British Royal Family. Now that she and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior royals and live in California, Meghan is returning to professional life. This includes a production deal with Netflix, where she released the docuseries Harry & Meghan in 2022 and will launch a lifestyle show called With Love, Meghan in 2025. She has also started a podcast and launched her brand, As Ever.

After starring in over 40 films since she began her career with 1994’s The Mask, the actress really needed a rest when she finished filming Annie in 2014.

She told Gwyneth Paltrow that she realized she wanted a different lifestyle. After years of intense work and filmmaking, she felt burned out. Making movies, she explained, is incredibly demanding – it’s a constant, all-consuming effort where you dedicate months to long hours each day, leaving no room for anything else.

Cameron Diaz had many interests she wanted to pursue, including writing – she followed up her successful book, The Body Book, with The Longevity Book – and starting a family with her husband, Benji Madden. Although she told InStyle magazine in 2019 that she didn’t miss acting and was focused on wellness, it seems she might be open to returning for at least one more project.

Oh my gosh, you wouldn’t BELIEVE how hard we had to work to get Cameron Diaz back! Jamie Foxx told TopMob News we were practically begging – seriously, on our knees! – saying, ‘Please, just give the fans one more movie!’ We’ve all been waiting for her forever, and honestly, it’s going to be absolutely incredible to see her in Back in Action on Netflix in 2025. We just adore her, and this is a dream come true!

The actor stated firmly that he wouldn’t return to the show after completing his five years on Empire. When asked by Extra about his plans before the sixth and final season aired in 2019, Terrence Howard said he was finished with acting and no longer wanted to play roles.

Despite appearing in a few projects since then, the Academy Award nominee announced his retirement from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to Entertainment Tonight that he feels he’s given everything he has to offer as an actor and now wants to focus on watching and supporting new talent, rather than simply repeating performances he’s done before.

Even with those past issues, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix movie Shirley. He also has several new projects planned.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, the 21-year-old actor told EW he was leaving acting. He explained that he’d been acting since he was eight years old and simply wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore.

Jack isn’t a child star anymore, and some of the excitement has faded. He explained that turning a hobby into a job changes things. “Before, it was just something fun to do with friends or during the summer,” he said. “I still like it, but making a living from it changes how you feel about it. It’s not that I dislike it, I just don’t want it to be my career.”

After a six-year hiatus, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films like Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows including Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

When Jennifer Aniston, known for her role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, participated in the virtual table read in September 2020, she was already a seasoned actress – having married fellow actor Kevin Kline in 1989. They devised a plan to raise their children, Owen and Greta (a singer now performing as Frankie Cosmos), by taking turns with work so they would never both be away at the same time, as Kline shared with Playboy magazine.

He added that Phoebe consistently prioritizes staying home with her children when it’s her turn to work. While she had a small role in her friend Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 film, The Anniversary Party, Cates mainly focuses on running her boutique, Blue Tree, in New York City.

When he was most famous for films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the actor took a break from making movies after his wife sadly passed away from breast cancer in 1991. He wanted to dedicate his time to raising his children, Rachel and Mitchell.

Despite not appearing in a live-action movie since 1997 – he even turned down a small role in the 2016 Ghostbusters remake – Rick remains a beloved figure, as demonstrated by the strong reaction to news of an assault he experienced while walking in New York City in 2020. Fortunately, fans will be happy to hear he’s returning to the screen alongside Josh Gad in the upcoming Disney reboot, Shrunk.

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, actress Drew Barrymore suggested she was considering stepping back from acting. She told Vogue that most roles require intimate scenes, and she wasn’t interested in pursuing them. She explained that taking on such roles felt risky, and while her marriage was solid, she needed a truly exceptional project to justify it.

After her son, Martin, joined his older sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she felt like an outsider in the movie industry and was now focused on being a mom. She explained that she helps her husband, Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby, but her children are her main priority, which is why she stopped pursuing film roles.

She’d built a successful career with roles in popular shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. But after all that, the actress began to think she was ready for a change.

Turning 45, I started thinking about trying something completely new and challenging,” she shared on her wife Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to leave acting and start my own business instead.”

Her company, General Public, which creates art for everyone, was almost complete—she just needed to finish one final piece.

I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and told him I wouldn’t be interested in a fifth season because I had decided to stop acting. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, an actor might consider retiring. Following his sixth Academy Award nomination for his 2017 film, Phantom Thread, the actor announced through his representative that he was retiring from acting. The statement expressed his gratitude to colleagues and fans over the years and clarified that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.

Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also be directing.

After finding fame on Good Luck Charlie, she decided to focus on her education in 2018. She went on to earn both a master’s degree and a PhD from MIT, and also attended Harvard Law School.

On top of everything else, Bridgit founded Northwood Space, a startup focused on building ground stations for sending and receiving data from satellites. She became the company’s CEO in February 2023.
