Savannah Chrisley Details Plans to Freeze Her Eggs

Savannah Chrisleyknows what’s best for her future.

Savannah Chrisley is taking steps to plan for her future family by freezing her eggs. She shared on the April 14th episode of her podcast, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, that she’s currently undergoing the egg retrieval process.

Not everyone in her family, including her parents Todd and Julie Chrisley, was immediately supportive. While Todd, who discussed it on a podcast, initially had some reservations about the procedure, he’s committed to being involved and supportive throughout.

Savannah shared that he called her right in the middle of her first appointment yesterday. She described the ultrasound technician as a big fan who was very sweet and asked about him. Savannah told her he’d already called her phone about fifteen times that day.

Todd admitted he was anxious and wanted to be fully informed about every detail of what was happening.

The 28-year-old has openly shared her battle with endometriosis, which she was diagnosed with at 18, and is currently navigating fertility challenges. Her father, Todd, says he experiences empathetic pain whenever she’s feeling sick.

Todd playfully said, ‘You mentioned you had an ovarian cyst and I think I might have something similar on my testicle. You were talking about abdominal pain, and I felt something the night before.’ He added with a laugh, ‘I’m starting to think I’m experiencing all your symptoms!’

Savannah shared that her parents were supportive of her decision to freeze her eggs, though her dad did ask her why she felt it was necessary.

Todd confessed he’d never encountered a situation like this before. He explained that growing up, if someone had a casual sexual encounter that led to pregnancy, it wasn’t seen as a big deal, and he personally hadn’t minded getting someone pregnant.

Savannah has talked about wanting to preserve her eggs, explaining that her experience with endometriosis and related treatments made her consider it.

In a 2020 interview with Life & Style, she shared that she’d always pictured herself having children at a younger age. Because of this, she and her partner have been discussing options like freezing her eggs to preserve their future possibilities.

Savannah isn’t the only celebrity who’s shared her experience with egg freezing. Here’s a look at other stars who have also chosen to preserve their eggs.

Kristen Stewart revealed on the March 2024 podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat that she and her fiancée, Dylan Meyer, have considered having children in the future. They’ve proactively taken steps, like freezing their eggs, to preserve that option.

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who shares daughter Malti Marie with husband Nick Jonas, recently spoke about the relief she felt when she froze her eggs. On the March 2023 episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, she explained that she did it in her early 30s. This allowed her to focus on her career goals without the pressure of starting a family before she was ready. She hadn’t yet met the person she wanted to have children with, and her mother, an OBGYN, advised her that age 36 was a good time to consider it, which eased her anxieties.

Kaitlyn Bristowe, who starred on The Bachelorette, shared that freezing her eggs at age 32 helped her shift her perspective on her body. She explained on her August 2023 podcast, Off the Vine, that the process actually distracted her from her body dysmorphia and made her appreciate what her body could do.

Emma Roberts, known for her role in Scream Queens and mother to son Rhodes with ex-partner Garrett Hedlund, shared that she decided to freeze her eggs in her late 20s after being diagnosed with endometriosis. She explained to Cosmopolitan in November 2020 that the diagnosis had already impacted her fertility, and doctors advised her to consider freezing her eggs or exploring other options.

She explained that she’d told them, ‘I’m busy with work and don’t have time to freeze my eggs.’ She admitted she was also scared – the idea of going through the process and potentially learning she couldn’t have children was frightening. Eventually, she did go through with egg freezing, and it was a challenging experience.

Singer Rita Ora revealed in a December 2021 interview with The Independent that she froze her eggs at ages 24 and 27. She explained that she believes women often feel an internal pressure to have children, seeing it as a natural obligation. Freezing her eggs, she said, relieved that pressure and was one of the best decisions she’s ever made.

Actress Rebel Wilson, who is raising her daughter Royce with her fiancée Ramona Agruma, shared that she froze her eggs in 2020. She encouraged other professional women considering it to do so, explaining that it’s best to do it earlier rather than later, ideally before turning 40.

Andi, a former star of The Bachelorette, wasn’t initially planning to freeze her eggs, but she decided to do so before turning 30 and is now very happy she did. In a March 2023 interview with TopMob News, she explained that it was a decision she has ‘zero regrets’ about, and believes it prevented her from rushing into a relationship she wasn’t ready for.

Kesha revealed she experienced a serious health scare in January 2023, nearly losing her life. She previously shared with Self magazine that shortly after freezing her eggs, she lost the ability to walk and was hospitalized. Doctors discovered a complication from the procedure, which was worsened by a weakened immune system.

“I’m finally recovered, but it took months,” Kesha said, describing the experience as “horrifying.”

Despite the ordeal, she emphasized that everyone should make their own choices about their reproductive health and listen to their bodies. “I was taking control of my reproductive health, and I support anyone else doing the same,” she explained.
