Richard Gere is stepping out with his pretty woman Alejandra Silva.
The couple made a striking impression on the red carpet at the Madrid premiere of their short film, What Nobody Wants to See, on November 25th.
For the event, 76-year-old Richard Gere, known for Pretty Woman, looked sharp in a navy suit with a white shirt and black sneakers. His partner, Alejandra, wore a sleek black suit with heels and finished her look with a burgundy lipstick.
Despite generally keeping their relationship private, Alexander, 6, and James’s parents recently showed some affection in public. They shared a kiss on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of his documentary, Wisdom of Happiness, on October 16th.
The couple, married since 2018, gained attention last year when they revealed they were moving from Hollywood to Alejandra’s home country of Spain. It seems that decision was a good one.
In a recent interview with Elle España, Richard shared that people are witnessing them at a really positive time in their lives. He and his wife are happier than they’ve ever been, he said.
According to the Golden Globe winner, that happiness is thanks to his family’s big move to Spain.
As he put it, “She, because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.”
But that happiness isn’t from the move alone.

Alejandra, who also has a 12-year-old son named Albert from a previous relationship, described her connection with her partner as a soulmate bond. She explained that they share core beliefs, have similar perspectives, and felt an instant, familiar connection. She believes such a deep connection is incredibly rare, and perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
She continued of their powerful connection, “We were united by the karma of our past lives.”
Their move, like their documentary What Nobody Wants to See, has deeper meaning, too.
Alejandra explained that she and Richard were both in Madrid to serve on the board of the NGO Hogar Sí. Their mission is to help Spain eliminate homelessness, with a five-year goal of ensuring no one has to sleep on the streets.

Returning to Spain allowed the mother of three to rediscover her heritage.
Richard recently shared on The Tonight Show that his wife comes from a large Spanish family. He described her grandmother as the person who kept everyone connected, and sadly, she passed away about a year and a half to two years ago.
He went on to say that his wife is really embracing her role as a grandmother to a large and growing family. She’s already making plans to host Sunday lunches for around 35 people!

After 19 seasons, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 following accusations of a negative and harmful workplace. These claims led to an internal investigation, the firing of several producers, and significant public criticism.
Ellen DeGeneres recently returned to performing with her Netflix stand-up special, For Your Approval, released in September 2024. Before the special’s release, she announced her plans to leave Hollywood completely.
During her recent stand-up tour, Ellen DeGeneres told her audience that she plans to retire after her upcoming Netflix special. According to SFGate, she said, “This is the last time you’re going to see me.” Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, confirmed they moved to England in November 2024 following Donald Trump’s reelection, as she shared with Richard Bacon in July 2025.

Tyra Banks, host of America’s Next Top Model, decided to move to Australia partly to oversee her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. She explained on Today with Jenna & Friends in April 2025 that her business had been primarily focused on supplying ice cream to places like airplanes and cruise ships, and she’d been traveling to Australia frequently to manage production at a large facility there. She grew to love the country during her visits.
She also realized Australia was a promising market for her product, noting that Australia, along with America and New Zealand, are the world’s biggest ice cream consumers.
Banks ultimately moved to Australia with her son, York (whose father is her ex, Erik Asla), and her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, stating that Australia has been a wonderful experience for her and her family.

Eva Longoria, known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has moved from Los Angeles and now splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. She explained to Marie Claire that while she lived in Los Angeles for most of her adult life, the city had changed, and the pandemic accelerated that change. Issues like homelessness and taxes contributed to her decision, though she doesn’t want to criticize California.
Longoria clarified to The View: Behind the Table that her move wasn’t politically motivated, despite occurring after the presidential election. Instead, it stemmed from work opportunities—six months filming in Catalonia, four months in Mexico for a project, and then returning to Spain. She’s been living abroad for years now and dislikes the idea of her decision being framed as a political statement.
Despite the move, Longoria remains active in her career, with recent roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Richard Gere’s recent move, and it sounds like a truly wonderful chapter for him and his family! He shared that his wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Galicia, Spain, encouraged them to spend several years in Madrid. It’s a beautiful way to connect with her roots and immerse the whole family in a new culture.
He’s especially excited about what this move means for his young sons, Alexander and James. Since they’re already bilingual, he believes they’ll really thrive in a Spanish-speaking environment. It’s lovely to see him embracing family life so fully, especially considering he also has an adult son, Homer, with Carey Lowell.
And it seems like this move is already having a fantastic impact! He recently told Elle España that they’re happier than ever and really hitting their stride as a family. It’s inspiring to see a family prioritizing connection and embracing a new adventure together.

Singer Christina Milian and her family have officially made Paris their home. Married to French singer Matt Pokora for over seven years, the couple previously spent six months of each year commuting between the US and France. They decided to fully relocate so their children – Violet (from a previous marriage to The-Dream), and sons Isaiah and Kenna (with Pokora) – could attend school in France.
Milian feels it’s a wonderful opportunity for her kids, who are now happily settled and fluent in French. She enjoys an active lifestyle during the day and works ahead of schedule at night, creating a healthy balance. She shared with TopMob in December 2024 that her kids are thriving and she’s enjoying life in Paris.

Lindsay Lohan is frustrated by the ongoing speculation surrounding her departure from Los Angeles. Looking back at her busy career and social life in the early 2000s, she recently explained her decision to step away from the public eye. In an interview with Bustle in March 2024, the Parent Trap star said she felt her work was often overshadowed by the constant attention of the paparazzi, which was frustrating. She wished the focus had remained on her career and felt the relentless media coverage spiraled out of control, prompting her desire for a quieter life. This led to her moving overseas, first to London and then to Dubai, where she also started opening beach clubs in Greece, but it wasn’t just about escaping the spotlight; she wanted the focus to be solely on her work.
Lindsay Lohan once worried she might never find love, questioning if it would ever happen for her. She realized that taking time to focus on herself was key to opening up possibilities and receiving the opportunities she truly wanted.
Eventually, she did find love with Bader Shammas, marrying in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.
Although they currently live in Dubai, Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind, and has recently starred in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

Josh decided to leave Hollywood after some careful thought. He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location, but a way of life. Being surrounded by people constantly focused on the film industry, he felt, would limit his perspective. He wanted a more diverse life.
“I’ve always wanted to be around people doing all sorts of things, to take my mind off work and help me grow in new ways,” Josh said. “That’s what makes life interesting.”
So, Josh, his wife Tamsin Egerton, and their four children moved to the countryside in Hampshire, England. He told The Guardian in July 2024 that time flies with a large family, and while life might seem simpler, it’s filled with what truly matters.
Despite the move, Josh has remained active in his career, appearing in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.

I was surprised to learn recently that Jesse actually doesn’t live in Los Angeles anymore! He shared in an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning back in February 2025 that he’s been living in Indiana on and off for the past ten years. He says that’s where he truly feels at home and that he prefers to avoid the instability he sees in the entertainment industry. It’s amazing to me, considering he’s an Oscar nominee, he lives such a normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and their son, Banner. He even mentioned he’s not on social media and doesn’t spend much time networking with people in the industry. It sounds like he’s intentionally created a separate life for himself – his wife is a teacher and his son isn’t even that interested in movies! He really seems to avoid getting caught up in constantly worrying about his place in Hollywood, which I really admire.

Okay, so you know I’ve been following Eliza Dushku forever – Buffy, Bring It On, she’s amazing! Well, I just found out in September 2024 that she’s not only an incredible actress, but she’s actually become a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist! Can you believe it?! She’s seriously dedicating herself to becoming a full-on mental health professional, and honestly, I couldn’t be prouder. She’s just the best!
She explained to Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to prioritize her own well-being, with the goal of then helping others. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced – the peace and renewed energy she felt – because she now clearly understood her true calling and purpose.

The actress best known for playing a character on The Flintstones shared that she relocated to Ireland in January 2025 with her son, Clay. She’s currently working on becoming an Irish citizen because her grandparents were originally from there. While she mentioned recent political events as a factor in her decision to move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country in the future.
In a TikTok video, she shared that she misses her children, friends, and life back home. She’s working on building a new life in her current country, and she said her family will think about returning to America once it’s safe and all citizens have equal rights.

Evangeline Lilly, known for her role in Ant-Man and the Wasp, has said she’s stepping away from acting for an unspecified amount of time. This comes after two decades working in the film industry.
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and fulfilled she feels while pursuing her life’s purpose. She expressed gratitude for her blessings and explained that while choosing a path less traveled – one that doesn’t necessarily prioritize money or recognition – can be daunting, it ultimately leads to a deeper sense of satisfaction.
However, she’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood completely, saying, “I could see myself going back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

Since starring in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars, actor Paul Wesley has focused on a personal mission: fighting climate change by working to improve soil health around the world.
Ian Somerhalder took a break from acting over four years ago to focus on his family, develop his businesses, and get his documentaries released. He told TopMob News in November 2023 that he wanted to launch Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and its sequel, Common Ground, both of which highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shares two children with his wife, Nikki Reed.
Looking ahead, the actor said he plans to become a rancher and focus on building lasting brands, including his bourbon and health company. He’s deeply committed to sustainable farming and healthy soil, principles he and his family follow. He explained this is his long-term vision, and it’s the reason he’s so passionate about these things – it’s simply who he is and who he’s becoming.

In a February 2021 episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy revealed to Anna Faris that she had quit acting a few years prior. She’s now pursuing writing and directing, alongside hosting the podcast.
Jennette recently shared that she regrets many of the acting roles she took earlier in her career, detailing these feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She explained that she feels frustrated with her past work, finding the roles cheesy and embarrassing. Having started on shows around age 13 and continuing until 21, she was already self-conscious about her work by age 15, feeling it wasn’t something her peers admired.
Despite her past experiences, she hasn’t ruled out returning to acting. She explained to TopMob News in October 2022 that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from the pressures she felt before. She believes she might be open to it again if she were to write a role specifically for herself.

It seemed like a pretty easy decision. The chance to marry Prince Harry, focus on the charities we care about, and wear the Queen’s tiaras would make leaving Hollywood completely worthwhile.
Similar to Grace Kelly’s transition from Hollywood to Monaco, Meghan Markle left her life and acting career in Toronto—including her role on the show Suits—to join the British Royal Family. Now that she and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior royals and live in California, Meghan is returning to professional life. This includes a multi-year deal with Netflix, where she released the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan and will launch a lifestyle show called With Love, Meghan in 2025. She has also started a podcast and launched her brand, As Ever.

After starring in over 40 films since she began her career with 1994’s The Mask, the actress really needed a rest when she finished filming Annie in 2014.
Okay, so she finally explained it, and honestly, it just makes SO much sense! She told Gwyneth – can you imagine getting life advice from Gwyneth?! – that she just needed something different. She was just… exhausted! She said she’d been working non-stop, filming movie after movie, and it’s seriously a total grind. She basically said that when you’re on set, they completely take over your life! Like, twelve hours a day, every day, for months! There’s just absolutely no time for anything else, for yourself, for anything! It’s like she was a prisoner of Hollywood, and she just needed to break free. I totally get it, honestly. It’s the ultimate self-care move!
Cameron Diaz had many interests she wanted to pursue, including writing—she followed up her 2013 bestseller, The Body Book, with The Longevity Book in 2016—and starting a family with her husband, Benji Madden. Although she told InStyle in 2019 that she didn’t miss acting and was focused on wellness, it seemed she might be open to returning for at least one more project.
Jamie Foxx explained to TopMob News that they had to really ask and plead with Cameron Diaz to star in the 2025 Netflix movie Back in Action. “We adore her, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting her return – it’s going to be amazing,” he said.

Okay, so Terrence Howard said after five amazing years as Lucious Lyon on Empire that was it – no more! I was absolutely devastated when I read it. Extra actually asked him what he was planning after the show finished – you know, before the sixth and final season aired in 2019 – and he straight-up said, “Oh, I’m done with acting. I’m done pretending.” Like, done done! It broke my heart, honestly. I just can’t imagine a world without Lucious, but he seemed so sure. It’s his life, I guess, but still… so sad!
Despite appearing in a few projects since then, the Academy Award nominee announced his intention to retire from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to ET that he felt he’d given everything he had to offer as an actor and now wanted to focus on watching and supporting new talent, rather than repeating familiar performances.
Even with those previous concerns, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix film Shirley. He also has several other projects planned for the future.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, the 21-year-old actor told EW he was leaving acting. He explained that he’d been acting since he was 8 years old and simply wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore.
Jack wasn’t a child star anymore, and some of the excitement had faded. He explained that now that acting could become a career, it felt different. “Before, it was just something fun I did with friends or during the summer,” he said. “I still like it, but making a living from something changes how you feel about it. It’s not that I dislike it, it’s just not my long-term goal.”
After a six-year hiatus, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films like Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows including Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

After landing the role in a virtual table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High in September 2020, Jennifer Aniston married actor Kevin Kline in 1989. They decided to stagger their work schedules so they could both be present for their children, Owen and Greta (who now performs as the singer Frankie Cosmos). Kline explained this arrangement allowed them to always have someone caring for their kids.
He added that Phoebe consistently prioritizes staying home with her children whenever she’s scheduled to work. While she made a brief appearance in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 independent film, The Anniversary Party, Cates mainly focuses on running her New York City store, Blue Tree.

During the peak of his popularity with films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the actor took a break from making movies after his wife sadly passed away from breast cancer in 1991. He wanted to dedicate his time to raising his children, Rachel and Mitchell.
Despite not appearing in a live-action film since 1997 – he even turned down a small role in the 2016 Ghostbusters remake – Rick remains a beloved figure, as seen by the strong reaction to news of an assault he experienced while walking in New York City in 2020. Fortunately, fans will soon see him return to the screen alongside Josh Gad in the upcoming Disney reboot, Shrunk.

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, actress Drew Barrymore suggested she was considering stepping back from acting. She told Vogue that most roles required intimate scenes she wasn’t comfortable with. While she felt her relationship was strong, she believed any potentially challenging work needed to be truly exceptional to be worth it.
After her son, Martin, joined his sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she was happy being a mom and focusing on family. She explained she now supports her husband, Jimmy Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby. “I don’t do movie stuff anymore,” she said, feeling like an outsider and prioritizing her children as the main reason for leaving the industry.

She’d starred in popular shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. After those roles, the Australian actress began to feel like it was time for a change.
Turning 45, I started thinking about trying something completely new and challenging,” she shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to leave it behind and start my own business instead.
She was almost finished with her consumer art business, General Public – she just had one final piece to complete.
I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and told him I wouldn’t be interested in a fifth season because I had decided to stop acting. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, Daniel Day-Lewis decided to retire. Soon after receiving his sixth Oscar nomination for his 2017 film, Phantom Thread, his representative announced that he would no longer be acting. He expressed immense gratitude to everyone he’d worked with and to his audiences over the years, and stated that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.
Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also be directing.

Bridgit Mendler, known for her role in Good Luck Charlie, decided to focus on her education in 2018. She first earned a master’s degree and then a PhD from MIT, and later went on to study law at Harvard Law School.
On top of everything else, Bridgit started her own company, Northwood Space, in February 2023. The company is building ground stations to facilitate communication with satellites, and Bridgit is serving as its CEO.
