Following the recent releases of Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Like a Dragon: Ishin! (a remake of the original game which players liked), Sega plans to bring more of its popular franchises to gamers by the end of fiscal year 2026.
According to its latest financial report for the third quarter of 2025, the company plans to launch four new games based on its most popular franchises by March 31, 2027. While specific details haven’t been revealed, it’s possible to make informed predictions about what these games might be.
A new, major Sonic game is definitely possible, especially since the company is also focused on expanding into more types of media around the same time. Sonic‘s huge popularity makes him a natural choice to lead that expansion.
Sonic isn’t Sega’s only strength. They’re also working on projects based on popular games like Alien Isolation, Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage. It’s possible these could become major, ongoing franchises. Plus, RGG Studio is creating a new game called Stranger Than Heaven, and Atlus is finally remaking the beloved classic, Persona 4 Revival.
If Sega can achieve its goals, fans have a lot to be excited about this year.
