Sense & Sensibility Trailer Showcases Daisy Edger-Jones As Iconic Jane Austen Heroine In New Adaptation

The story of the upcoming Sense & Sensibility movie has turned a new page.

A new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility will premiere on October 16th. Directed by Georgia Oakley (known for Blue Jean), the movie stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters) and Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna) as the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Caitríona Balfe (Outlander) plays their mother, and the sisters’ love interests are portrayed by George MacKay (1917), Frank Dillane (Urchin), and Herbert Nordrum (The Worst Person in the World), playing Edward Ferrars, John Willoughby, and Colonel Brandon respectively.

Focus Features debuted a trailer for their new film at CinemaCon, the movie theater industry’s annual convention. Though the trailer isn’t available online yet, it revealed that the two sisters are mistreated by the man who inherited their father’s estate, Robert Ferrars (played by Forrest Bothwell), and are eventually forced to downsize to a smaller house, where they encounter Mrs. Jennings (Fiona Shaw). The trailer then introduces the charming but scandalous Willoughby as he meets Marianne, followed by a series of emotionally charged scenes involving both the blossoming romance and the complex relationship between the sisters.
