Robert Eggers’ newest horror movie is finally revealing itself.
A preview of the upcoming horror film Werwulf was shown at CinemaCon, giving audiences their first look at Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a werewolf. Set in 13th-century England, the movie centers around a rural village plagued by a terrifying werewolf. Staying true to his style, director Robert Eggers will feature dialogue spoken entirely in Middle English for historical authenticity.
Universal Pictures recently showed a preview of their upcoming film, Werwulf, at CinemaCon. The teaser opens with a scene of a man being crucified, then quickly cuts to glimpses of a terrifying “beast” attacking rural England. The footage confirms that Taylor-Johnson’s character is the werewolf, showing him transforming from a naked man. A detailed description of the teaser is available below.
The scene opens with a man being crucified, then quickly cuts to a close-up of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s face. An Irish man explains he’s discovered a monstrous creature terrorizing the land – a werewolf. As clouds obscure the moon, we see a naked Taylor-Johnson transforming, howling in agony. The scene ends with a close-up of his scream.
Following the success of his remake of Nosferatu, which earned critical acclaim and grossed $182 million on a $50 million budget, Robert Eggers is now releasing Werwulf, an original take on the werewolf genre.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star in the new werewolf film, and early looks at the movie confirm he’ll play the character who actually turns into the werewolf. He’ll be acting alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson – the four actors previously worked together on the movie Nosferatu.
