Shirley MacLaine, 91, Makes Rare Public Appearance in Malibu

Shirley MacLaine may just a have term of endearment for her favorite café.

You know, I always keep an eye on what people are really doing – not just what they say! And I noticed the wonderful Betty White, at 91 years young, enjoyed not one, but two Thanksgiving meals at Kristy’s Village Cafe in Malibu. It’s so lovely to see someone enjoying life and good food, especially around the holidays!

Shirley dined outdoors at a restaurant twice in late November. On November 25th, she wore a navy sweatshirt and pants with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, enjoying an orange cocktail. Four days later, on November 29th, she repeated a similar outfit while having a meal and drinks with a friend.

Although Sally Field has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, she’s made a few public appearances, including a recent get-together with Stephen Dorff, her co-star from People Not Places, at the Sunset Bar and Grill this summer.

I absolutely loved seeing her make glamorous events feel so warm and family-oriented! Like, back in 2023, it was so sweet to see her with her sister-in-law, Annette Bening – who, as everyone knows, is married to her brother Warren Beatty – at the Industry Dance Awards in Hollywood. It just felt really genuine and lovely.

Even after so many years, her love of dance is still clear. She has said before that her long career as a dancer is the reason she stays so healthy and active.

Shirley began dancing at age three and continued for around 64 years, until she was 67. She shared with People magazine in 2024 that dance instilled in her a strong work ethic, a love of music, the ability to collaborate, and resilience in the face of discomfort.

It’s that and the occasional role, like her 2022 appearance on Only Murders in the Building.

Shirley expressed her gratitude for being able to continue working, and shared that she’s thankful for her friends and good health.

Despite everything, she isn’t scared of dying. In a 2024 interview on CBS Sunday Morning, she shared, “I’m actually curious about what happens after death, and I’m genuinely looking forward to experiencing Heaven.”
