2025 wasn’t a standout year for fans of Shonen Jump, as many manga series were cancelled across both Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and the Shonen Jump+ digital platform. Weekly Shonen Jump is Shueisha’s most well-known magazine, famous for long-running hits like One Piece and Dragon Ball, as well as more recent popular series such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer. Shonen Jump+ is also published by Shueisha and is a digital platform that publishes original shonen manga alongside titles for a wider range of readers. Several series on Shonen Jump+ have gained international recognition, including Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, and Spy x Family.
Despite many new manga series launching each year, very few become truly popular. In fact, Shonen Jump often ends more series than it begins, and we’re already seeing cancellations early in the year. Several potentially great series from last year, like Kaedegami and dozens of others, have already concluded. While Shonen Jump had its challenges in the past year, it also launched some fantastic series, with three becoming major hits in 2026. 2025’s Three Best Shonen Jump Series Became Major Hits After Their First Volume

Last year saw the highly anticipated release of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which started appearing in September 2025. This sequel to the original story is being published as a short manga and is planned to finish in three volumes. The first volume launched in Japan on January 5th, 2026, and quickly became a hit, selling over 190,000 copies in its first week. This makes Modulo one of the most successful new manga series ever published by Shonen Jump. While building on the popularity of the original, Modulo has also earned significant praise from both fans and critics for its engaging story and impressive artwork by Yuji Iwasaki.
One of the biggest surprises in Weekly Shonen Jump recently has been Ei Yamano’s Someone Hertz. It launched alongside Modulo and has quickly become popular. The first volume actually sold out about a week before it was even officially released! Another print run is already being organized to meet the increasing demand. In its first week, Someone Hertz sold over 24,000 copies, landing it at number four in the Weekly Shonen Jump rankings.
Recently, a new manga series called WITCTRIV by Hakuri, published on Shonen Jump+, received a lot of positive feedback after its first chapter was released. The first collected volume came out on January 5th, 2026, alongside Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and Someone Hertz. Although official sales numbers aren’t available yet, the manga is already being reprinted on February 6th, indicating strong initial demand.
