Shonen Jump Reveals Exciting New Lineup For June After Major Cancellation

Thanks to hit, long-running manga like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, Weekly Shonen Jump became the best-selling manga magazine ever. Launched in 1968, it has published countless popular manga series and one-shot stories. Despite changing trends, the magazine remains successful decades later. Nowadays, most manga series end after around 300 chapters, including popular titles like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen. Each year, Weekly Shonen Jump introduces new series, which means some existing ones have to be cancelled. Usually, the magazine gives a series about a year – around 40-60 chapters and a few collected volumes – to prove its popularity. However, some promising series are cancelled after only about 20 chapters if they don’t attract enough readers. Gonron Egg is one example, ending on March 29th, 2026, with its 21st chapter. While more cancellations are likely, the magazine will soon launch three new series by well-known creators, including Hideaki Sorachi, the author of Gintama.
