Sinners’ Miles Caton Reacts to Michael B. Jordan’s Oscar Win

Miles Caton was dancing out of the Oscars.

He was thrilled to see Ryan Coogler win the award for Original Screenplay for Sinners at the event on March 15th. Even more exciting, he watched his friend Michael B. Jordan, the film’s star, become just the sixth Black man to win Best Actor.

Miles told TopMob News he was thrilled for Michael at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. “He’s worked incredibly hard for years and really deserves this,” Miles said. “I’m just so happy and excited for him.”

Michael’s win solidified his place in history, and Ryan became just the second Black man to win an Oscar for Original Screenplay. Additionally, Autumn Durald Arkapaw, the cinematographer for the film, made history as the first woman to win in her category. The film itself also broke records, receiving an incredible 16 Oscar nominations – the most ever.

So it’s understandable that Miles feels a mix of happiness and sadness as the award season, and his involvement with the film, comes to a close – it’s ‘bittersweet’ for him.

He said he’ll really miss being with the cast. Sharing such a unique experience brought everyone close together, and they created something truly special that no one else can relate to.

Although it’s difficult to finish with the show, the 21-year-old actor—who became well-known for his part in Sinners—feels he’s gained incredibly valuable experience.

Working with actors like Ryan, Michael, Wunmi Mosaku, and Hailee Steinfeld taught Miles valuable leadership lessons. He observed how Ryan and Michael led and worked together, building a strong team and a positive environment, and that’s what he learned the most from.

Plus, he’s looking forward to seeing where this journey takes him.

Okay, so Miles said goodbye, and it’s totally sad, but honestly? He sounded so thrilled about what’s next! He was all about growing as an artist and trying new things, and even more excited to watch all of us, his fans, grow with him. It just makes me even more obsessed, knowing he cares about that!

The cast of Sinners, including Miles, celebrated the film’s success with Vanity Fair, though Michael briefly stopped at In-N-Out Burger for a quick bite to eat.
