A new report suggests Paramount is looking for an actress similar to Anya Taylor-Joy to play Amy Rose. It’s not yet known if they’re focusing on her acting style, how she speaks, or her overall popularity when considering potential candidates.

Anya Taylor-Joy is already familiar with video game adaptations, having voiced Princess Peach in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its sequel. While she probably won’t be voicing Amy Rose in the upcoming Sonic movie, Paramount is clearly aiming to cast another well-known star.

At the very end of the 2024 movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Amy Rose makes a quick appearance. After the credits, Sonic is shown racing Tails when he suddenly vanishes, seemingly traveling through time or teleporting away from New York. He’s then attacked by multiple Metal Sonics, but Amy Rose rescues him with her signature hammer. Amy Rose originally debuted in the Sonic CD game.

Not much is known about the next Sonic the Hedgehog movie yet. There’s speculation it might be called ‘Sonic CD,’ referencing a classic game that featured time travel – a concept also hinted at in a scene after the credits of the 2024 film.
