As a big moviegoer, I’ve been watching how the Sonic films have really taken off – the first three have already made over a billion dollars worldwide! Because of that success, Paramount didn’t hesitate to greenlight Sonic the Hedgehog 4 even before Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hit theaters. What’s really cool is how they’ve assembled a fantastic cast – Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and the incredible Jim Carrey – which has clearly resonated with fans of the video game. We don’t know much about the story for the next film yet, but I’m excited to see Amy Rose join the adventure – she’s a popular character and should add a fresh angle to things.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is currently scheduled to come out in spring 2027. Updates have been scarce, but director Jeff Fowler recently shared the first photo from the set, giving fans a first look at the movie’s production.
Fowler posted a picture on X (formerly Twitter) showing him in a field with a blue screen displaying a number ‘4’. He was holding a clapperboard and Amy Rose’s signature hammer, the Piko Piko Hammer, to celebrate her appearance in the new Sonic movie. This came less than two weeks after Kristen Bell, known for her roles in Frozen and The Good Place, was confirmed to play Amy Rose in the film.
