Sony officially unveiled the PS5 Pro’s performance boost today, focusing on improvements to its PSSR technology, which enhances game visuals. The update will be available to PS5 owners next month in March, and the newly released game, Resident Evil Requiem, will immediately support the upgraded feature.
So, Sony’s been working with AMD, and they’ve really upped their game with this new tech called FSR 4. Basically, it makes games look sharper and run smoother. Mark Cerny, one of the big guys at PlayStation, said they’ve spent the last six months polishing it specifically for the PS5 Pro, so we’re getting the very best version of this tech they’ve created together. It’s awesome to see them putting so much effort into improving the visual experience!
A new PS5 Pro setting called “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” will be added in the system’s video settings, letting you improve picture quality using the console’s upgraded features.
From launch, Resident Evil Requiem will take advantage of the latest technology. Capcom explains they’re working to improve how the main character looks and moves by using an enhanced version of their RE Engine.
Updating to the PS5 Pro firmware will improve how hair looks in games. According to Masaru Iijuin of Capcom, the improved technology allows for more detailed textures – especially fine details like hair – which were previously difficult to render clearly. They’re hoping players will notice a significant boost in visual quality, realism, and overall gameplay experience.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison showing the current version of PSSR on the left and the improved version on the right.
