Fans can expect a different take on Venom in the future! Sony is reportedly working on an animated Venom movie, and Tom Hardy is expected to participate in the project somehow.
Okay, so here’s the buzz: Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are taking the helm of the new Venom animated film – both directing and producing! You might recognize their work, they’re the team behind the upcoming horror flick Final Destination: Bloodlines, slated for release in 2025. It’s an interesting choice, and I’m definitely curious to see what their horror background will bring to the symbiote’s world.
The team behind the previous Venom movies – Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach – are likely to be involved in the new project. Tom Hardy might also be a producer, though it’s currently unknown if he’ll lend his voice to the character of Eddie Brock in this animated film.
The animated Venom movie doesn’t have a writer yet, so the story is still being developed. Sony Pictures Animation is planning to assemble a team of writers to come up with ideas and write the script.
Venom Heads In a New Direction With Animated Sequel
It makes perfect sense that Sony is developing an animated Venom movie with Sony Pictures Animation. Venom is a very popular character, and his unique abilities would lend themselves well to animation. Plus, why not trust the studio that created the hit film, KPop Demon Hunters?
It’s worth noting that Sony Pictures Animation created the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and the soon-to-be-released Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. This demonstrates their skill in visually bringing Spider-Man and related characters – like Venom, who shares many of Spidey’s abilities – to life. Plus, Marvel Comics has recently been expanding the Venom universe with a series of successful comic books.
