After the difficult news about Bluepoint Games this week, Sony has stopped posting on social media.
Right after the news came out about the Demon’s Souls remake developer, a planned post for Marathon appeared on all of PlayStation’s social media accounts.
Although the post was probably scheduled in advance, it appeared at a particularly bad moment, causing a strong and negative reaction from fans in the comments.
This post, made about a day ago, has received nearly 2,000 replies on X (formerly Twitter), and the comments are overwhelmingly negative.
It’s not posted on any of its accounts since.
“Dumb ass company,” one of the tamer replies reads.
“You should close down Bungie and keep Bluepoint frankly,” a common sentiment adds.
It’s a shame the Marathon company is caught up in this situation, especially since they were recently doing well.
Regardless of what you think about Bungie, the closing of Bluepoint Games isn’t really their fault. The only argument you could make is that Sony’s $3 billion purchase of the studio ultimately led to this outcome, but that seems unlikely.
Sony will likely remain silent for now. They probably won’t post anything on social media until at least Monday, hoping the situation will calm down by then.
We believe it’s good when fans share their opinions, but we’re disappointed by the negativity and harshness we’ve seen. Unfortunately, this kind of strong reaction isn’t new for PlayStation.
