Sony Reportedly Confirms Shift Back to PS5 Single Player Exclusive Games

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst announced in a staff meeting that future single-player games developed by PlayStation Studios will only be available on PS5 and won’t be released on PC.

In a recent post on Bluesky, journalist Jeff Schreier reported that Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, announced that all future single-player, story-driven games made by PlayStation studios will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles. This confirms earlier reporting by Bloomberg.

The article stated that while games like Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will still be released on multiple platforms, future single-player games will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Plans to release Ghost of Yotei on PC have been scrapped.

This announcement follows Microsoft’s recent statement that it’s reconsidering whether to release its exclusive Xbox games on consoles made by other companies.

When Sony announced it would only release its single-player games on PlayStation 5, a recent poll on Push Square showed over 70% of readers agreed with the decision. Now that initial sales figures for games also available on PS4 are being released, it’s becoming clearer why Sony might be focusing less on releasing games for PC.

Sony probably won’t officially announce it’s stopping support for single-player PC games outside of its financial reports. But, according to a trusted report by Jason Schreier, a recent internal meeting at PlayStation confirms earlier information about this change.

We’ll know for sure in the next year if the recent trend holds true. If we stop seeing new single-player games released on PC, it will likely confirm the change. However, games already partnered with studios like Ember Lab (with their upcoming Kena sequel) are still planned for PC release.
