The up-and-coming Korean band QWER, recently named the best new band at the Asia Artist Awards, has partnered with Sony to promote the PlayStation 5 this holiday season.
I just saw a quick trailer and it looks like these girls are getting ready to game! They’re showing off DualSense controllers and swapping presents, which is super festive. Then this cool, glowing blue ticket zipped across the screen saying, “Be Happy. QWER with PlayStation. December 17th.” Sounds like something big is dropping on the 17th, and I’m definitely curious to see what ‘QWER’ is all about!
The band recently released a song called ‘Be Happy,’ and we’re curious if they’ll create a music video for it inspired by PlayStation, similar to the one Yoasobi did earlier this year. However, the song doesn’t really have a Christmas feel, so a holiday-themed video seems unlikely.

QWER is quickly becoming a major K-pop group in Korea, gaining popularity since their debut in late 2023. Before joining the band, two members were already popular streamers on Twitch, and another previously performed with the Japanese idol group NMB48.
Sony has been working with popular K-pop stars recently to connect with more people. A good example is when they named Lisa from the group BLACKPINK as a global spokesperson, leading to a lot of promotion on social media.
QWER’s growing popularity likely helped lower the cost of this partnership. Because the group is already well-known in the gaming community – they recently visited Riot Games and promoted League of Legends – the platform owner probably expects this promotion to reach its target audience easily.
