Sony’s recent State of Play presentation was its most-watched yet, showing that these types of broadcasts are becoming increasingly popular.
The format holder’s recent livestream, which aired just a few days ago on February 12th, has already received over 3.2 million views. This is a new record, exceeding the views of the previous most popular episode from June 2025 by more than 200,000.
While this data doesn’t include things like multiple simultaneous streams or different language options, it clearly shows that State of Play has been steadily growing in significance over time.
While the recent showcase didn’t reach the numbers of the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, which has nearly 5 million views, it seems the company isn’t planning another event with that same name anytime soon.
What really stood out this time was how positively the recent State of Play was received. Our Push Square poll showed at least 83% of people thought it was good, which is a great accomplishment considering how critical gaming discussions can be these days.
Although Sony has a good presence on YouTube, their State of Play presentations haven’t yet reached the popularity of Nintendo Direct. The most-watched Nintendo Direct, from March 2025, currently has 6.4 million views.
PlayStation’s social media team is definitely making positive progress.
