Sony’s recent State of Play presentation was its most-watched yet, showing that these types of broadcasts are becoming increasingly popular.
The format holder’s recent livestream, which aired just a few days ago on February 12th, has already received over 3.2 million views. This is a new record, exceeding the views of the previous most popular episode from June 2025 by more than 200,000.
This number doesn’t include things like multiple streams happening at once or different language options, but it does show that State of Play has gradually become more significant over time.
Okay, so the recent stream didn’t pull in numbers as big as last year’s PlayStation Showcase – that one’s still way ahead with almost 5 million views. But it looks like Sony isn’t planning on doing another ‘Showcase’ style stream anytime soon, at least not for the foreseeable future.
Honestly, the latest State of Play was a huge win! We ran a poll over at Push Square, and a whopping 83% of people thought it was good. That’s pretty rare these days, getting that many gamers to agree on something – it’s a real accomplishment.
Although Sony has a bigger presence on YouTube, their State of Play presentations haven’t yet reached the popularity of Nintendo Direct. Nintendo Direct’s most successful presentation, from March 2025, has currently earned 6.4 million views.
PlayStation’s social media team is definitely making positive progress.
