You can download and play the latest South Park game for free for a limited time, but you won’t own it permanently. From now until April 20th, the full game is available to download and play on Xbox Series X. This free access doesn’t require an Xbox Game Pass subscription; it’s part of the Free Play Days promotion. Please note this offer is exclusive to Xbox Series X users.
Xbox Series X and S owners can try out the newest South Park game, South Park: Snow Day, for free for the next few days. The game typically takes between 5 and 11 hours to finish – around 5 hours if you focus on the main story, and up to 11 hours if you aim to complete everything. You can play solo offline, or team up with up to three friends online in co-op mode.
Not the Best South Park Game
Out of the three recent South Park games, South Park: Snow Day is the least successful. South Park: The Stick of Truth (2014), developed by Obsidian Entertainment, is considered one of the best RPGs of the early 2010s and remains the strongest South Park game to date. The 2017 sequel from Ubisoft is also well-regarded, though not quite as highly praised as the original. Snow Day, while connected to the story, doesn’t follow directly. Unfortunately, it’s simply not a very good game, and reviews reflect that – it scores between 50 and 60 on Metacritic and received a 3 out of 5 star rating on the Xbox Store. Our own review of the 2024 release shared this less-than-positive assessment.
Currently, South Park: Snow Day isn’t part of Xbox Game Pass, so getting it as a free download saves Xbox Series X and S players $30. While the game is also on sale for $11.99 until April 20th, if you enjoy the free download and want to own the game, it’s best to buy it now. Once the free offer ends, the price will return to its full $30 value.
