It seems that everyone is eager to visit South Park for a good time, with the long-running animated series currently leading the charts on Paramount+. Despite ongoing controversies in its twenty-seventh season, the show has found itself at the top of the streaming charts following a dispute over rights and public criticism from creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone regarding Paramount’s leadership focused on mergers. As a result, South Park has four movies in the Top 10 Movies chart on Flix Patrol, and the series sits atop the TV Shows chart. The show is also ranked among the top five Overall on the Amazon Channels chart, further demonstrating its popularity.
In terms of movies on Paramount+, “South Park: The End of Obesity” is currently leading the pack. Following closely are “South Park (Not for Kids)” and “South Park: Entering the Panderverse”. In ninth position is “South Park: The Streaming Wars”. Besides South Park, only the Dexter franchise has multiple titles on the charts, with “Dexter” and “Dexter: New Beginnings” also doing well. Recently, the latest season of South Park has been causing a stir due to its controversial take on President Donald Trump in the premiere episode, and its second episode targeting ICE’s immigration enforcement.
The South Park Resurgence Continues
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite show, South Park, has been making waves recently! The season premiere shattered a 25-year-old record for the series, with an impressive 68% increase in viewership compared to the previous season opener. This surge brought in nearly 6 million cross-platform viewers between Paramount+ and Comedy Central.
The episode even earned the title of “the #1 Most Social Episode Ever” of the franchise, thanks to its dominance on social media for hours after it aired. However, the White House didn’t hesitate to respond, but Trey Parker and Matt Stone remained undeterred, continuing to challenge norms in the second episode of the new season.
Since its initial airing in August 1997, South Park has significantly impacted pop culture, consistently challenging norms and stirring up debate. Despite this long history, the show seems to have garnered a fresh wave of popularity and interest – an impressive feat given it’s now been around for 28 years. Created and primarily voiced by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park has also featured notable guest voices such as Isaac Hayes, Bill Hader, Mona Marshall, April Stewart, and Eliza Schneider throughout its run.
Starting today, you can exclusively stream all seasons of “South Park” and all its movies on Paramount+, as they’ve been taken off HBO Max. Every new episode will premiere Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central, with the episodes becoming available the next day on Paramount+. Right now, the first two episodes of “South Park” Season 27 are ready for streaming on the platform!
