South Park season 29 confirms return date and unveils release schedule – and it’s mere months away

South Park will return this fall with a new season, and it’s expected to continue satirizing American politics and culture with its signature sharp humor.

Okay, so this show’s been around for nearly 30 years, which is wild! But honestly, the last few seasons were the most talked-about in ages. And it’s pretty clear why – the show really went after a satire of Donald Trump’s second term, and it was relentless. It definitely grabbed everyone’s attention.

In a recent episode, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone satirized newly-inaugurated President Trump with a plotline where he fell in love with the actual devil. The show also humorously portrayed Vice President JD Vance as an infant.

Though not known for being nuanced, South Park really resonated with viewers. Seasons 27 and 28, which aired back-to-back last year, were the most-watched cable show among adults aged 18 to 49 in North America, according to Variety.

Since “South Park” stopped airing in mid-December, American politics has remained just as chaotic. Parker and Stone will have plenty of new material when the show’s 29th season returns to Comedy Central in the US on Wednesday, September 16th.

While a UK release date hasn’t been announced yet, the show became available internationally very quickly in the past two seasons. Episodes typically aired in the UK on Comedy Central and Paramount+ within a day of their initial release.

The team is planning to release new episodes of season 29 every two weeks, aiming to finish the season in late November. However, this timeline isn’t set in stone, so it’s best not to take it as a definite plan.

The last time, the release was delayed a lot – sometimes because of the story itself, and other times due to external issues. This resulted in a confusing launch that upset some viewers. Hopefully, this time everything will run more smoothly.

Last year, the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, signed a five-year contract with Paramount for a reported $1.5 billion, ensuring the show will continue for years to come.

South Park is available to stream on Paramount+. Season 29 premieres in September.
