The new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, is coming out on July 31, 2026, and fans are excited to see what happens next! A big question is how Peter Parker will rebuild his relationships with his friends Ned and MJ, who currently have no memory of him due to the events at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The trailer for Brand New Day shows that Peter Parker will reconnect with his old allies, now that he’s become a genuinely friendly neighbor to them. Beyond that, the trailer also hints at significant upgrades to Spider-Man’s suit and web-shooters, finally offering an explanation for something that’s always been a bit confusing about his webs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man’s Web Shooters Have Never Made Sense In The MCU

A particularly humorous scene in No Way Home involved Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man comparing how they create their webs. Only Maguire’s Spider-Man has the ability to produce webs naturally. Garfield and Holland both rely on mechanical web-shooters, which have always seemed a bit illogical within the story.
Giving Spider-Man web-shooters like the ones in the comics creates problems. He’d have to carry extra web fluid cartridges and wear devices on his wrists to fire them. This creates story issues – constantly needing to replenish his supply. More importantly, though, the Marvel Cinematic Universe never shows Peter Parker wearing anything bulky on his wrists, which you’d expect if he had these devices.
Brand New Day Seems Poised To Fix This Issue

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man films haven’t explained a certain plot inconsistency yet, but the upcoming film seems poised to address it. The movie will reportedly resolve this issue in a couple of ways. For one, the new trailer shows Spider-Man’s suit will have visible web-shooters on his wrists.
Interestingly, the upcoming film might introduce organic webbing for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peter Parker appears to be undergoing mutations that suggest this change. If it happens, the film won’t just fix the issues with Peter’s web shooters; it will significantly upgrade Spider-Man’s webbing and eliminate the need for the cumbersome web shooters altogether.
