Square Enix and Deck Nine confirm Life is Strange: Reunion with a new deep dive detailing the return of Max and Chloe — and we’ve got a release date

Deck Nine and Square Enix have announced the next installment in the Life is Strange series, Life is Strange: Reunion, following the release of Life is Strange: Double Exposure two years ago. The game will revisit Max and Chloe, the beloved main characters from the original 2015 episodic adventure created by Don’t Nod Entertainment, and explore the long-term effects of choices Max made in previous games.

You can now preorder Life is Strange: Reunion on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5. It’s scheduled to launch on March 27th, and preordering gets you a special outfit pack for Max and Chloe.

The recent livestream showcasing Life is Strange: Reunion contained major plot details, so be warned – this article contains spoilers if you haven’t played the series, especially up to Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

Life is Strange is an adventure game played from a third-person perspective. You play as Max Caulfield, who can rewind time and jump to different moments using photography. This ability lets you see how your choices change the story. The game centers around the close bond between Max and Chloe Price, and players can choose to develop a romantic relationship between them. At the end, you’re faced with a difficult decision: save Chloe from a deadly accident, or sacrifice her to protect the town of Arcadia Bay from a massive tornado.

In Life is Strange: Reunion, Max’s ability to rewind time has created unexpected problems. No matter what Max did in the first game – whether she saved or sacrificed Chloe – Chloe has returned, but is now burdened with painful memories from different timelines. Now, Max has one last chance to fix things and help Chloe overcome these consequences.

In Life is Strange: Reunion, players can once again use Max’s time-rewinding powers. This time, you’ll also get to play as Chloe, using her signature ‘backtalk’ ability from Life is Strange: Before the Storm. These skills will be essential as you work to save Caledon University and everyone at it. While Max’s rewind power is more powerful than ever, there’s still a limit to how far back she can go. A new feature lets her carry objects through time, which will help solve puzzles.

Hannah Telle is once again the voice of Max Caulfield, and Rhianna DeVries returns as Chloe. DeVries shared during a live stream that revisiting Chloe, now older and more confident, after first playing her at age 16 in ‘Before the Storm,’ has been a fantastic opportunity. Joining the returning cast, John Zimmerman is back as a writer for ‘Life is Strange,’ marking his first involvement since ‘Before the Storm’.

Life is Strange: Reunion will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam starting March 27th. You can pre-order the game now.
