*WARNING – contains major spoilers for the Squid Game season 3 finale*
The complete third season of Squid Game, its final installment, can now be streamed on Netflix. Instead of focusing primarily on who emerged victorious in the recent games and how events concluded, viewers are drawn to another intriguing aspect.
Here comes an unexpected guest star, a renowned Hollywood A-list actor, appearing as a mysterious recruiter for what appears to be an American adaptation of the game series – and who else but Cate Blanchett!
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk chose Cate Blanchett for the role because he believed that having a female character in the recruiting position would add a more captivating and dramatic element to the story.
Moreover, it’s no secret that Cate Blanchett possesses an extraordinary charm that captivates everyone. It goes without saying that we were thrilled to have her grace our presence. We required someone who could command the screen with minimal dialogue, and she effortlessly delivered just that.
If Gong Yoo plays the Korean Recruiter, I believe he could excellently portray the American Recruiter role too. His performance in that part might deliver a concise yet powerful and moving conclusion to our tale.

I found myself quite taken aback, as many others did, upon spotting Cate Blanchett appear in the series. One fan, on Twitter, expressed their surprise with a post that read: “What is Cate Blanchett doing here? What was that ending?” (Rebranded as X: “Why is Cate Blanchett here? I’m confused about that finale.”)
One person asked, “Who is Cate Blanchett in ‘Squid Game’?”, and another inquired, “What are you doing here, Cate Blanchett?” Both questions express curiosity about the actress’s role in the popular series.
It’s been proposed that this storyline might pave the way for an American adaptation of the popular Korean drama, given its conclusion, and Cate Blanchett could potentially be part of the cast in the new series.
spectators might well have anticipated something unconventional at the climax, given that the series’ end was labeled as “crazy”, “insane”, and “nuts” by its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
He mentioned that he was still pondering over its merit, yet implied that both the spectators and viewers would be able to make their own judgments.
As people worldwide are tuning in to watch the last episodes, it won’t be long before we discover a general agreement about the outcome.
