IDW’s new Star Trek comic, Star Trek: The Last Starship, is a bold reimagining of the franchise. The first issue featured the surprising return of Captain Kirk and a dramatic shift for the Federation, now reduced to a single ship with the goal of rebuilding. The comic proved incredibly popular, with the first issue selling out quickly – but more copies are being printed!
As a huge Star Trek fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Star Trek: The Last Starship #1 is getting a second printing! Apparently, it’s the biggest launch for a Star Trek comic since IDW took over. If you missed out the first time, you’ll have another chance – pre-orders are open until November 24th, and it hits shelves January 7th. They’re promising to reveal the new cover soon, which is exciting! The writers, Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, are just as blown away as we are – they said selling out was ‘unbelievable,’ and honestly, I get it!

In the latest issue of the comic, the U.S.S. Omega enters a fierce battle against a dangerous Klingon cult determined to destroy what’s left of Starfleet and the Federation. Captain Sato, who once hoped to bring the galaxy together, now faces his biggest challenge. He grew up believing in peace, but he’s quickly learning that progress often requires conflict. Though the Klingons are enemies after a long period of peace, Sato finds an unlikely ally in the legendary Captain Kirk – and no one knows Klingon warfare better than him.
You have until November 24th to pre-order the second printing of Star Trek: The Last Starship #1. Issue #2 will be available for purchase on November 11th, and the deadline to pre-order issue #3 is November 3rd.
