He confirmed she’ll appear in just one episode as a guest star. While fans were hoping for a more substantial role, this announcement at least clarifies her involvement and ends the rumors.
When Mary Wiseman was confirmed to return alongside other well-known *Star Trek* actors, many expected her to have a major role in *Starfleet Academy*, particularly since her character had already been shown as a teacher for new recruits on *Discovery*. However, she was missing from promotional photos and the trailer for *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy*, leading to concerns her part might be small. Despite Tilly seeming like a good fit for the series, she hasn’t been prominently featured in any advertising.
The news is likely upsetting for fans of the character. *Star Trek: Discovery* strongly suggested she would have a significant role in the new spin-off, and the early announcement of Wiseman’s involvement seemed to confirm this. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be happening, and fans of Sylvia Tilly might be disappointed with her short appearance when *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* is released.
