Star Wars’ 8 Best Zeb Orrelios Episodes To Watch After The Mandalorian & Grogu

Be warned: this contains spoilers for The Mandalorian and Grogu! Fans should definitely check out the eight TV episodes featuring Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios (voiced by Steve Blum). Zeb plays a significant role in helping Din Djarin and Grogu during several important moments in the series.

Following a fight where Din Djarin and Grogu defeat Imperial Commander Barro and his soldiers at the beginning of the episode, Zeb arrives to rescue them. Zeb is part of the Adelphi Rangers and becomes one of the key New Republic allies who work closely with Din Djarin and Grogu throughout the story.

Zeb joins the team as they travel to Nal Hutta and Shakari, chasing after the enigmatic Imperial Commander Coin (Jonny Coyne). He’s a key asset during the raid on Coin’s base, eliminating numerous stormtroopers and helping to capture the Imperial leader, who is then delivered to the New Republic.

Though Zeb isn’t featured prominently throughout the second half of the story, he reappears in the finale of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Along with the Adelphi Rangers, he helps rescue Din and Grogu and overcome the Hutt Twins’ army. He also officially welcomes Rotta the Hutt (played by Jeremy Allen White) into the New Republic, promising him a uniform that will fit.

Zeb is a great character, and you can fully appreciate him even without knowing his backstory. However, the Star Wars Rebels animated series really dives deep into what makes him tick. The best episodes of that show are the ones that both reveal more about Zeb and are genuinely fun to watch.

8. Star Wars Rebels Season 1, Episode 4, “Fighter Flight”

In “Fighter Flight,” we see the developing relationship between Zeb and Ezra Bridger. They clash during a mission to gather supplies, end up stealing a TIE Fighter, and eventually learn to understand each other better. The episode really shows that Zeb and Ezra are like brothers – they fight, but they clearly care for each other deeply.

While not as detailed or surprising as some later episodes centered on Zeb, “Fighter Flight” is aimed at a younger audience but still plays a key role in building Zeb’s character and setting the stage for more in-depth stories about him.

7. Star Wars Rebels Season 3, Episode 14, “Warhead”

In the episode “Warhead,” Zeb is stationed at the Rebel base on Atollon with the droids Chopper and AP-5. His solitude doesn’t last long, however, as an Imperial spy droid lands on the planet, putting the base’s secret location at risk.

This episode really throws Zeb into the deep end, forcing him to lead a mission with two droids he actively dislikes – and honestly, it’s great for his character. But it’s not just about personal growth; the stakes are incredibly high. This infiltrator droid is a serious threat, and if the Empire discovers their base, it could wipe out everything the Rebellion has been working towards. My only real complaint? With the rest of the Ghost crew off-screen, we don’t get to see much development in those existing relationships, which felt like a missed opportunity.

6. The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 5, “The Pirate”

Though he’s only in one scene, “The Pirate” is a significant moment for Zeb – it marks his first live-action appearance and hints at what’s to come in the Star Wars universe. We learn that after the events of Rebels, he’s working at Adelphi Base for the New Republic. During a conversation with Carson Teva, it’s clear Zeb hasn’t lost his caring side, as he’s concerned to hear about the pirate attacks on Nevarro. He’s still dedicated to fighting for what’s right, but he’s becoming increasingly annoyed with the New Republic’s complicated rules and procedures.

This episode sets up Zeb’s future in the Star Wars universe, including his role in The Mandalorian and Grogu and his confirmed return for season 2 of Ahsoka, and hopefully beyond. While “The Pirate” successfully demonstrates that Zeb works well in live-action and is a fun, action-filled episode, it’s ranked lower because Zeb’s appearance is short and doesn’t offer much character development compared to other episodes.

5. Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episode 10, “The Future Of The Force”

The storyline in “The Future of the Force” is especially grim, focusing on the capture of children with abilities in the Force. While this isn’t new to the Star Wars universe – The Clone Wars and other stories have explored similar themes – it’s particularly unsettling to see it happen again in Rebels, especially with the Jedi Order gone and unable to intervene.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I really loved seeing what happened after the Jedi fell. The crew of the Ghost found themselves responsible for protecting these Force-sensitive kids, and Zeb really stepped up! He wasn’t a Jedi like Kanan and Ezra, but he bravely fought off the Inquisitors – especially this one called the Fifth Brother – and kept those kids safe. It was incredibly impressive to watch, honestly, seeing someone without Jedi powers fight so fiercely to protect them.

4. Star Wars Rebels Season 1, Episode 3, “Droids in Distress”

The episode “Droids in Distress,” the third in season one of “Fighter Flight,” starts to reveal more about Zeb’s past. We learn that before joining the crew of the Ghost, Zeb was a Captain in the Lasan Honor Guard. He’s also one of the last surviving members of his species, the Lasat, who were nearly wiped out by the Empire. This difficult history explains a lot about Zeb’s personality and shows he’s much more than just the team’s strongman.

Watching Zeb in this episode, it’s so clear how much his past still affects him, even now. It really comes out when he faces off against Agent Kallus – the same Imperial officer who was responsible for so much pain for the Lasats. You can feel the tension building between them, and it definitely sets up a complicated relationship that’s going to play out in a really unexpected way next season. It’s fascinating to see how his history drives his actions.

3. Star Wars Rebels Season 4, Episode 15, “Family Reunion — And Farewell”

The finale of Rebels is one of the best Star Wars TV episodes ever made, delivering a powerfully emotional, grand, and truly satisfying conclusion to the series. The episode primarily focuses on Ezra’s journey, bringing his story full circle, but Zeb is also crucial in the fight against Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and liberating Lothal from Imperial rule.

The season finale, “Family Reunion – and Farewell,” features a daring mission to infiltrate the Imperial headquarters, a confrontation with Rukh (played by Warwick Davis), and a satisfying resolution to Zeb’s storyline, told through a narration by Sabine Wren (voiced by Tiya Sircar). While many consider it the best episode of Rebels, it’s ranked third here because the episode focuses less on Zeb’s personal growth compared to two other standout installments.

2. Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episode 14, “Legends Of The Lasat”

The discovery that other Lasat survivors exist forces Zeb to revisit the painful events of his past, first hinted at in “Droids in Distress.” When the crew of the Ghost rescues two more members of his species, they express a desire to travel to Lira San – a planet tied to an ancient prophecy.

Zeb struggles with doubt and feelings of failure, questioning both his ability to protect his people and the reality of Lira San. This internal conflict is heightened when he learns he’s connected to a prophecy. The resulting scene is powerfully moving, allowing Zeb to experience significant personal growth and embrace the mystical elements of Star Wars. It’s a strong episode for his character, though another one ultimately explores his development even more effectively.

1. Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episode 17, “The Honorable Ones”

The strongest episode of Zeb is “The Honorable Ones,” where Zeb and his enemy, Kallus, are stranded together on a freezing moon. Forced to cooperate to survive, the episode does a great job of diving into both characters, showing their different viewpoints and helping them overcome their biases. It allows a real connection and trust to develop between them, despite their difficult past.

The Star Wars episode “The Honorable Ones” is both touching and funny. More importantly, it’s a pivotal moment in the story, as Zeb’s choices lead Agent Kallus to leave the Empire and join the Rebellion.
