Padmé Amidala, a beloved character from the Star Wars universe, is appearing in the latest series, adding new layers to her story. Known as the Queen of Naboo, a Galactic Senator, and Anakin Skywalker’s secret wife, Padmé has a rich, though often tragic, history within the franchise, particularly surrounding her death in *Revenge of the Sith*. However, the Star Wars saga has continued to revisit her character, notably through *The Clone Wars*, and Disney+ is finding new ways to include her in current shows.
I’m really enjoying the new *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past* show! Even though it’s not official Star Wars canon, it’s surprisingly good, especially for Padmé. The show takes place in a different galaxy, which lets them do things with her character that just wouldn’t be possible otherwise. It’s so cool to see her as a Pirate Queen, teaming up with C-3PO and R2-D2! What I love most is that even in this alternate reality, she still has that strong moral compass and wants to do the right thing. It’s led her to fight this new bad guy, Solitus, and it’s amazing because it brings her together with Vader – who isn’t a Sith Lord in this version – and lets her finally meet Luke and Leia and discover they’re her kids! It’s a really heartwarming and exciting twist.
The scene is both touching and funny. Padmé realizes Leia has her same strong spirit, and playfully points out that Luke definitely takes after his father, Anakin. Knowing Padmé tragically died after childbirth makes this moment especially poignant. While we didn’t get a scene like this in the original films, it’s lovely to see this sweet interaction happen in another version of the story.
Is Padmé Going To Make A Live-Action Star Wars Return?

Seeing Padmé Amidala appear in *Pieces of the Past* was a fantastic moment, and it’s got fans wondering if we might see more of her character in the future. While a full-on resurrection seems unlikely, even for a galaxy far, far away, some believe she could reappear, potentially in Season 2 of *Ahsoka*.
It’s possible we’ll see Natalie Portman reprise her role as Padmé Amidala in future seasons. Season 1 already featured flashbacks to the Clone Wars with a digitally younger Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, and with Christensen confirmed to return, Portman’s involvement isn’t far-fetched. These appearances could be flashbacks or visions, potentially using the ‘World Between Worlds’ concept to include other characters. Portman herself has expressed willingness to return if the story felt right.
A more disturbing theory about Padmé’s potential return in *Ahsoka* Season 2 revolves around the Mortis Gods. The first season ended with Baylan Skoll discovering statues of the Father, the Son, and the Daughter (though the Daughter is missing her head). Beyond these three, there was also a Mother – a human who once served the gods and later tried to maintain peace within their family on the planet Mortis. Desperate to keep them together, she attempted to become immortal, delving into dangerous magic. This wish was granted, but it horribly transformed her into a powerful and frightening creature named Abeloth, forcing the Father to imprison her.
Given Abeloth’s ability to change appearance, and if *Ahsoka* Season 2 is tying into the Mortis Gods storyline, the character could take on the form of Padmé Amidala, potentially bringing Natalie Portman back to play the role. Since Anakin Skywalker has strong ties to the Mortis Gods and appears as a Force Ghost on Peridea, a reunion between him and Padmé is possible – though likely fraught with conflict – and could significantly enrich their complex history.
You can now watch *LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past* on Disney+. Fans can expect the second season of *Ahsoka* to arrive around 2026.
