Based on trailers, promotional materials, and details about the upcoming live-action Ahsoka series, it increasingly appears that the story will be significantly larger in scope than just another The Mandalorian episode. The second season of Ahsoka takes place after the events of the movie and includes large-scale fleet battles between Thrawn and Ahsoka, suggesting the bounty hunters’ plans likely failed. Combined with the fact that Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) is trying to prevent a full-scale war between the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire, it seems the series will be a much more complex and intense story.
While some fans worry the new films might not live up to the quality of the original show, the official description is encouraging. It explains that with the evil Empire defeated, remaining Imperial leaders are still a threat across the galaxy. The newly formed New Republic teams up with the skilled bounty hunter Din Djarin and his apprentice, Grogu, to safeguard the freedom the Rebellion won.
