Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley (known as ConcernedApe), has announced that the next update, version 1.7, will significantly expand a feature fans have loved for years. Even after nearly a decade since the game’s release, Barone continues to add new content to the popular farming simulation. Previous updates have included new farm designs, pets, and the ability to play with friends. Now, Update 1.7 will build upon one of the game’s most enjoyed aspects, making it even more in-depth.
ConcernedApe, the creator of Stardew Valley, recently told IGN that the upcoming Update 1.7 will add two new characters you can marry. While the game has allowed players to marry villagers since 2016, the options have been limited to 12 characters (6 men and 6 women). Barone hasn’t revealed who these new additions will be, but they will expand the number of potential partners slightly.
Barone explained they’re keeping details under wraps to maintain a sense of surprise. They plan to introduce two new potential marriage partners, but won’t announce who they are until the game’s anniversary.
When Will Stardew Valley Update 1.7 Release?
There’s no official release date for Stardew Valley Update 1.7 yet, but an announcement could be coming soon. The game’s creator, Barone, plans to share details about the game’s future on February 26th, which is its 10th anniversary. We’ll likely learn who the new marriage candidates are and potentially get a timeframe for when Update 1.7 will be released.
Besides still working on Stardew Valley, Eric Barone is also developing his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. Similar to the 1.7 update for Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier doesn’t have a release date yet and is likely several years away. However, Barone regularly shares updates on the game’s progress, so we can expect to hear more about it soon.
