Stardew Valley was just unexpectedly released for the Nintendo Switch 2! And the best part? If you already have the game on your original Switch, you can download the new version completely free.
Developer Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, revealed in September that he’s creating an update for the game on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
The update unexpectedly launched on Christmas and is available now on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. If you already own the game on Switch, the update is free.
What the Switch 2 Version of Stardew Valley Features
Okay, so the new Switch 2 is shaping up to be really cool! There are a lot of awesome changes coming that I, as a fan, am super excited about.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear the Switch 2 will let up to four players game together locally with split-screen! And it’s not just local – you can play online with up to eight people. Plus, they’re even adding mouse support, which is awesome for certain games. It feels like they’re really thinking about all kinds of players!
The game now offers improved mouse controls, making it much easier to arrange furniture and manage your inventory. This also lets you take full advantage of the new Joy-Con controller’s capabilities.
Plus, the Switch 2’s Game Share feature lets you and up to three friends play together in co-op mode with only one game copy!
ConcernedApe mentioned that the Switch 2 version of the game has a few unresolved problems, but he’s actively working to fix them and expects to have them resolved quickly.
On his tweet over at X (formerly Twitter), ConcernedApe said:
We know the new Nintendo Switch 2 release has some problems, and I apologize for that. We’re working to fix them right away and I take full responsibility for this error.
Right now, the Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley appears to be rolling out to players in limited regions.
