After over two and a half years as an Xbox and PC exclusive, and plenty of speculation, Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield will be available on PlayStation 5 starting April 7, 2026.
Starfield is now available on PS5 with everything released so far! This includes the original game, the major expansion ‘Shattered Space,’ a brand new DLC called ‘Terran Armada,’ and a large free update known as ‘Free Lanes’.
The standard game costs $50. If you’d prefer more content, the Premium Edition is available for $70 and includes both expansions, Shattered Space and Terran Armada. Terran Armada can also be purchased separately for $10.
As a huge fan, I’ve been following Starfield closely, and it’s amazing to see how much it’s grown since it came out in 2023! Bethesda has really listened to us players, adding tons of new stuff – from big story expansions and completely new game features to over a thousand player-made creations and just generally making the game even better. They’ve truly expanded the universe in a really deep way.
The company is calling next month’s major update and PlayStation 5 launch the largest improvement to Starfield since it first came out, and they believe it will be the most polished and feature-rich version of the game yet.
Below you can learn more about the PS5 version and the new content arriving on 7th April 2026.
Starfield PS5 + PS5 Pro Versions and Enhancements
Starfield is designed to utilize the unique features of the PS5 and PS5 Pro, such as the lightbar, adaptive triggers, and touchpad, to enhance the gaming experience.
The PS5 Pro will offer two new gameplay modes in addition to the options already found on the standard PS5.
- Pro Performance Mode — Play at a higher-target FPS
- Pro Visual Mode — Play at a higher resolution
Terran Armada DLC
The latest Terran Armada expansion introduces a galaxy-spanning questline, unlike previous adventures limited to a single area like Shattered Space. Players will encounter new characters, discover unique locations, and complete quests to earn rewards – ultimately influencing the destiny of humanity among the stars.
Free Lanes Update
The new Free Lanes update for Starfield lets you travel freely between planets within a star system. You can activate cruise mode to journey from planet to planet, experiencing random events and enjoying time with your crew on your ship.
The patch also adds the following to the base game:
- New locations — A number of new Encounters, POIs, Dungeons, notable increase in variety for players to discover
- X-Tech — A new resource used to upgrade weapons, ship modules, and more
- Enemy modifiers — New enemy tiers with performance modifiers, such as extra shielding, more frequent attacks, or elemental damage
- Moon Jumper — New land vehicle
- Outpost improvements — Cross-outpost storage & Milliewhale pet
- New crew — Muria and the mini-bot
- Starborn Improvement — Ability to bring a limited number of items through the Unity to a NG+
Bethesda announced that these releases represent a new phase for Starfield, offering the most polished and comprehensive version of the game to a wider audience as the game’s universe grows.
Starfield launched with a score of 85 on Metacritic and has been consistently improved with new content and fixes since then. The version releasing on April 7th, 2026, will be the most complete and updated version of the game.
